Attic Salt Returns to 35below

May 10-26, 2019
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm; Sundays at 2:30 pm

Performed in 35below

Attic Salt Theatre Company returns to 35below with this dark comedy by Tony-winner Stephen Karam. Three misfit teenagers come together to start a Speech & Debate team at school, protest the school’s production of Once Upon a Mattress, and take down a possibly predatory teacher. Local teens Graham Podraza, Gabby Bailey, and Brendan Nickerson star; the cast is rounded out by Lara Holloway, who recently made waves in our Mainstage production of Avenue Q

Director Marci Bernstein said of the play, “This is a play about teenagers, but they are dealing with some very adult subjects. Using the premise of a school Speech & Debate team provides a great way for them to explore these and express their feelings about them. We’re looking forward to having an audience come along for a very fun ride.”

Limited seating is available for this show - don't hesitate to get tickets!

Documentary Screening!

Tuesday, May 14 * 7:30 pm
Screened on our Mainstage

See the documentary that launched the musical!

In S.R. Bindler’s 1997 cult classic, two dozen small-town Texans compete for a brand-new “Hardbody” pickup truck at a local car dealership. The event is a contest of endurance and sleep-deprivation—whoever can remain standing the longest with one hand on the truck will get to drive it home. Capturing several days of lunacy, laughter, struggle and heartbreak, Hands On a Hardbody is more than a documentary about winning a truck. It is a remarkable study of competition, camaraderie, faith and determination—the ultimate human drama.

People who have already seen this documentary rave about it.

Produce a Show in 35below!

Accepting proposals through May 15, 2019

Produce a show in 35below! We are seeking proposals for plays for 35below, our 40 seat black box theatre.

This year, ACT is offering two choices for proposals:

You can submit a show to be considered for the 35below Season: 9 performances over 3 weekends in 35below OR you can submit a show for our new program, the Artistic Horizons Season: 3 performances over 1 weekend in 35below. Not sure where you'd fit best? You can apply for both!

35below is a tiny space, and shows with small casts (think 6 or less) and light scenic needs work best. Also, producers are strongly encouraged to consider scripts that offer a diversity of voices, perspectives, and experiences; scripts by women and/or people of color; and scripts that illuminate contemporary issues.
