Speech & Debate is "excellent"

Through May 26, 2019
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm; Sundays at 2:30 pm
Performed in 35below

Speech & Debate is an "excellent coming-of-age comedy" - Asheville Stages

Attic Salt Theatre Company returns to 35below with this "smartly staged" dark comedy by Tony-winner Stephen Karam.

This play is so beautifully acted. Local teens Graham Podraza, Gabby Bailey, and Brendan Nickerson are all doing heavy lifting with Lara Holloway as the sole adult we meet. It's a very moving piece that's also very, very funny. The choreographed musical number the trio of teens concoct for their debate competition is alone worth the price of admission!

"DON’T MISS THIS COMEDY GEM! You won’t be sorry - I loved every minute of this thought provoking play ... " - J. Crouch

Limited seating is available for this show - don't hesitate to get tickets!

"this scrappy, sincere new musical brings a fresh, handmade feeling to Broadway" - NY Times

Is there one action you could take that would immediately shift your life from stalling out to taking off?

How hard could it be to just stand with your hand on a truck?

For 10 hard-luck Texans, a new lease on life is so close they can touch it. Under a scorching sun for days on end, armed with nothing but hope, humor and ambition, they’ll fight to keep at least one hand on a brand new “hardbody” Nissan truck in order to win it. In the hilarious, hard-fought contest, only one winner can drive away with the American dream. Based on a true story!

With a terrific score by Amanda Green and Trey Anastasio and a book by Pultizer Prize winning playwright Doug Wright, this musical will be one you'll cherish for a long time!

Produce a Show in 35below!

Accepting proposals through May 15, 2019
(That's today! Get your proposal in by midnight!)

Produce a show in 35below! We are seeking proposals for plays for 35below, our 40 seat black box theatre.

This year, ACT is offering two choices for proposals:

You can submit a show to be considered for the 35below Season: 9 performances over 3 weekends in 35below OR you can submit a show for our new program, the Artistic Horizons Season: 3 performances over 1 weekend in 35below. Not sure where you'd fit best? You can apply for both!

35below is a tiny space, and shows with small casts (think 6 or less) and light scenic needs work best. Also, producers are strongly encouraged to consider scripts that offer a diversity of voices, perspectives, and experiences; scripts by women and/or people of color; and scripts that illuminate contemporary issues.
