Change is good. Change is hard.

As we move toward re-opening the theatre, we are living with these two statements. This past year has made us rethink what theatre looks like and has offered us the opportunity to try new things. At the same time, this past year has been full of grief and confusion.

And so we come to this moment. Of beginning again - and with a lot of change.

We're bringing a new sense into how we're casting our Mainstage shows next year. We're growing our collaborative spirit with the way we're designing our graphics. We're shifting around our jobs and positions. We're starting up so many things that are new - so keep your eyes peeled over the next several months for new projects and programs. It's exciting!

But with that growth and excitement comes news that is sad for all of us. We are losing two members of our team - for good reasons and good choices - but it doesn't make it less hard.

We're so ready to be together again - to see what ideas we can coax out and put on a stage and to ask what might make this place even better.

Change is hard. Change is good.

Bon Voyage Get Together

Monday, June 14, 2021 * 4:00-6:00 pm
At Smoky Park Supper Club
350 Riverside Dr., Asheville, 28801

Get out your tissues ...

This June, two of our staff members are following their hearts to be closer to their families. Chanda Calentine will be heading north to Kentucky, and Jerry Crouch will be moving south to South Carolina. Both Chanda and Jerry have shaped ACT in a myriad of ways, and it really is the understatement of the year to say that our theatre will be a very different place without these two.

So let's get together to send them off with love, good wishes, cheers, and a little more love! Please join us on Monday, June 14 from 4:00-6:00 pm at The Boat House at Smoky Park Supper Club. PS - The cash bar will be open!

All are welcome! You should come!

Our 2021-22 Mainstage Season

Beginning in October, we'll be performing live, in-person shows to a live, in-person audience on our Mainstage!

This season, we're doing 4 Mainstage Season shows (these are the shows that will be included in our Season Subscription package - and more on that later!) Right now, we know the titles and we know the performance dates. We'll keep you updated on everything else as soon as possible!

One BIG change for next season: each Mainstage Season show will run for 4 weekends, and each show will have two separate casts! What does that mean? Well, each cast will perform two weekends of the show. And if someone in one cast gets sick, their counterpart in the other cast could step in. This is an experiment to see if we can have more opportunities for people to participate as a cast member, without doing shows with enormous casts. Change is good!

Show Us Your Design Skills

We are seeking 4 local graphic designers to help create the look of our Mainstage season marketing assets. This is a paid, collaborative project and rising, emerging, and/or student designers are encouraged to apply!

ACT's 2021-22 Mainstage season consists of 4 productions. Guided by Dena Rutter of Dena Rutter Designs, each designer will create one typographical logo for the title of a Mainstage production. Logos will be highly public facing and used across all digital (website, social media banners, billboards) and print (large scale posters, sandwich board, lobby posters, postcards) applications.
