Staying connected and in community during this unprecedented time -

Thank You!

A moment of gratitude today for everyone who has supported ACT’s programs while we have been shut down due to social distancing for COVID-19. THANK YOU! Every child who has been able to continue with their ACT classes online, and every member of ACT’s staff who has been able to keep teaching, creating, and supporting those classes thanks you for making this work possible.

Weekly Spotlight: Carrying On with Murphy
Friday, June 5 at 7:30 pm

Local performer and entertainer Murphy Funkhouser Capps came to us several weeks ago with the idea of performing a show as a fundraiser for ACT. Tickets would be free, but folks could donate if they wished. And, she had an idea to try something new - since it was a one woman show, and could be done within the social distancing recommendations, could we film it live on the Mainstage?

So, with a one person cast (Murphy) and a four person crew (Will Eccleston, a videographer Murphy had worked with before, Jill Summers on lights, and technical assistance from Chanda Calentine and Amanda Klinikowski), we set out to try this new way of presenting theatre.

In order to comply with the Asheville curfew, the show will be pre-recorded earlier in the day on Friday - but still aired at 7:30 pm.

About the show: Murphy Funkhouser Capps is getting "out of the house and onto the ACT stage" for an evening of candid sharing and storytelling about her experiences during these months of quarantine. Murphy's performances have been called "hilarious and poignant celebrations of resiliency, courage and strength." This is one "storied" evening you don't want to miss!

Tickets are free. Once you register for the event, you will receive a unique link to view the livestream!

We know how completely odd it seems to be raffling off a trip to London right now. We're barely leaving our homes for any reason, so jetting off around the world seems flat out bonkers! We're hopeful that international travel and fun vacations will happen again in the future - and that's why we extended and amended the raffle prize! If you win, you can choose the trip to London (and you have 18 months to book your travel) OR you can choose to take the cash value of the trip instead ($10,000).

Our raffles have been important fundraisers for ACT over the years, and this one is no different. ACT has lost 85% of our income as an organization, so this raffle is one of the few ways we can continue to bring a little money in the door.

Buying a raffle ticket is a great way to support ACT right now - and it just might be you who gets some really great news from us!
