Nunsense A-Men! Extended

January 11-27, 2019
Additional performances: February 1-2, 2019
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm; Sundays at 2:30 pm
Performed in 35below

Nunsense A-Men! has been extended for 2 additional performances! This show sold out so quickly - literally every ticket was gone before the second weekend even began! - and we had the highly unusual occurrence of an open weekend, so we were able to add 2 more shows!

About the show: When the Little Sisters of Hoboken – comprised of a former circus performer, a wannabe ballerina, a streetwise nun, a sister that’s lost her mind, and an overly ambitious second in command – discover that their cook, Sister Julia Child of God has poisoned 52 of their sisters, they must raise money to bury their dead. Think Mrs. Doubtfire goes to the convent for this delightfully funny and heartfelt show.

This show is performed in 35below - and seating is extremely limited! Get tickets now before they're all snapped up!

Listen to This Rings in 2019

Thursday, January 31 * 7:30 pm
Performed in 35below

A storytelling format in the vein of “This American Life,” Listen to This is an evening hosted by Tom Chalmers with stories and songs from some of Asheville’s most interesting writers, performers, and citizens. January's theme is "The Resolution Will Not Be Realized: Stalled Self Improvement Stories." Don't we all have at least one story that would be right at home in this show?

Shows do tend to sell out (and there are less than 10 tickets left for this one), so don't wait!

Everybody Cut Loose!

February 8-March 3, 2019
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm; Sundays at 2:30 pm
Additional Thursday performances 2/21 and 2/28 at 7:30 pm
Performed on the Mainstage

A musical version of the 1984 film! When teenager Ren McCormack moves from Chicago to a small town, he isn’t prepared for the stifling local laws, including a ban on dancing and rock music instituted by the local preacher. As he struggles to fit in, he encourages his classmates to defy the local pastor and call for a rock’n’roll prom. Fist pump!

Footloose combines songs from the hit 1984 soundtrack with dynamic new songs - and though it might seem like just a lot of fun, it also celebrates the wisdom of opening minds and listening to the voices of young people. Director Jerry Crouch, music director Linda Shuler, and choreographer Tina Pisano-Foor have put together a cast of students and adults from the community to bring Footloose to life!

Little One-Inch

Little One-Inch
Presented by Red Herring Puppets
Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 10:00 am on the ACT Mainstage

Our Saturdays at ACT series combines terrific shows for children and their adults with tickets that are affordable (they're only $7.00).

Up next, we host Lisa Sturz and Red Herring Puppets for Little One-Inch, a beautiful and magical tale. Lisa shares: “Little One-Inch was my favorite story growing up. My Dad, who was stationed in Okinawa during World War II, passed on to me his deep love of the Japanese language, people and culture. He read this story to me. I was enchanted by the magical elements, inspired by the idea that a little person could achieve great things, and reassured that love can blossom in unlikely circumstances."

Little One-Inch is the story of an old couple whose prayers are answered when they find a small baby by the side of the road. When he comes of age, tiny Little One-Inch sets off on the adventure of a lifetime where he meets a princess, defends her against a dumbstruck ogre and, for his bravery, grows when the princess uses the ogre’s magical hammer on him.

You may think your child won't sit still for a 45 minute show, and guess what? Wiggling, whispering, pointing, and exclaiming are all 100% wonderful!
