Alice in Wonderland

Through April 21, 2019
Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm; Sunday at 2:30 pm
Performed on our Mainstage

"This is as fine a production of Alice in Wonderland as you’re likely to see this side of Walt Disney. The visual effects, particularly the costumes, are downright stunning, and the cast, animated by director Burchill’s staging, keeps things lively and bright. You’ll be glad you fell down this rabbit hole." - Asheville Stages

Adapted in 1932 from Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, this version of Alice in Wonderland is a true page to the stage adaptation! All the familiar characters are here for Alice's journey through a tea party, a croquet game, gardens and forests: the White Rabbit, the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat, and more! Our cast of 25 features both children and adults - and it's a show that's meant to be enjoyed by both children and adults!

That said, the show is a full-length play with an intermission, so keep that in mind if you've got little littles who may not be ready to devote that much time to sitting in the dark!

"Whimsy on steroids ... Like all great children’s classics, it’s wise nonsense for audiences of all ages." - Mountain Xpress

Final Weekend for An Iliad

Through April 21, 2019
Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm; Sunday at 2:30 pm
Performed in 35below

“Keel accepts the challenges of this demanding actor’s showcase and gives a mesmerizing performance” - Asheville Stages

The setting is simple: the empty theater. The time is now: the present moment. The lone figure onstage is a storyteller – possibly Homer, possibly one of the many bards who followed in his footsteps – who transforms the bare stage into a raging battlefield, bringing this epic tale of heroes and villains through the centuries and into the present day.

"Absolutely brilliant performance, brilliant writing, music, lighting design, amazing moments. This is the kind of theater I want to see, to be a part of, and to promote.” - Patron review

An Iliad is produced by Rarely Theatre and stars Scott Keel with live underscoring by Asheville Symphony cellist Franklin Keel. It is directed by Trinity Smith Keel. This is the final weekend for the show - performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm. All tickets are $18.00.
