Winner of the Pulitzer Prize!

Through August 25, 2019
Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm; Sunday at 2:30 pm
Performed on the Mainstage

"Asheville Community Theatre has been making some brave choices this season, and they're paying off well. The latest is Rabbit Hole, a subdued yet challenging drama that never panders to its audience ... This may be the most naturalistic drama I’ve seen at ACT and one of the most impressive in that category among any of the local theater companies ... We could go on, but the bottom line is that people should just go and see this play." - Asheville Stages

Becca and Howie Corbett have everything a family could want, until the accidental death of their son turns their world upside down and leaves the couple drifting perilously apart. As they navigate through the unimaginable, they find themselves and each other. In the end, there is always hope. Winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize.

This show speaks frankly about death, grief, and grace. But Rabbit Hole ultimately leads to a place where deep love and tender forgiveness exist, twined together and growing by the second.

Rabbit Hole is directed by Stephanie Hickling Beckman and stars Courtney DeGennaro Robinson, Robert Dale Walker, CJ Breland, Joann Johnson and Jon Morrison.

RTS: Arms and the Man

August 30-September 1, 2019; Friday and Saturday at 35below; Sunday at the Reuter Center on UNCA’s campus
All shows at 2:30 pm

This comedy is often viewed as Shaw’s wittiest play! This is a borderline farce that will stimulate serious thinking about the nature of both romance and war. What is Raina to do when she finds that an enemy soldier has taken refuge in her room? What will her fiancee say? The plot, of course, thickens! Directed by Jim Reid and performed as Readers Theatre as a part of The Autumn Players’ Readers Theatre Showcase Series.

A Premiere in 35below!

September 6-21, 2019
Fridays and Saturday at 7:30 pm
Performed in 35below

These two one act plays, twinned in theme, display the struggles of sexual abuse, and the aftermath; which is healing. The stories of two different persons are speaking the truth – or a truth – their truths – about going through this harsh and mind blowing journey. This powerful show has a bold message with a light at the end of the tunnel. Truth Be Told is written and directed by Monica McDaniel.

Truth Be Told will open the 2019-20 35below season and is also the inaugural play in Asheville Community Theatre’s Artistic Horizons program, a program that gives local artists the opportunity to pursue new creative paths in the theatre. In the 2019-20 season, Artistic Horizons will feature four productions created by new, emerging, or established writers who are expanding their craft to include playwriting, or are helmed by first time directors who want to workshop a piece before committing to a full performance run.
