Robert and Cait reunite thirty-five years after a walking tour of Dublin brought them briefly together. As the older couple rediscover each other, their younger selves, Robbie and Caithleen, retrace the events of their short-lived love-affair. However Time may have a plan this time around. This Irish time-travel love story blends wit, humor, and heartache into a buoyant, moving appeal for making the most of the present before it is past.

NC Premiere on the Mainstage!

August 17-September 2, 2018

Performed on the Mainstage
By Marc Palmieri; Directed by Betsy Puckett

After stumbling upon an outdoor production of a Shakespeare play in Manhattan, Long Island landscaper Bob Malone returns home inspired to write a play about his troubled marriage. He hires two reluctant New York theatre professionals to spend a week at his home and stage the play in his garage, with a cast of colorful locals. A modern romantic comedy with a moving and unexpected ending.

What is a groundling? If you've been wondering, you're not alone - we get that question all the time! The term goes back to the early Shakespeare days at the Globe Theatre. The folks who stood and watched Shakespeare's performances from "the yard" were called "groundlings." Coincidence that Bob is a landscaper? We think not!

The cast is composed of seven community members; some first timers and some with an ACT history. We think you'll definitely recognize some names! Making their ACT Mainstage debuts are Daniel Sandoval, Scott Keel, Haven Volpe and Kelsey Simmons. Returning to the stage are Jenni Robinson, Mandy Bean and Ralph Redpath (his first time back on the ACT stage in more than 20 years!)

Join us Opening Weekend and be one of the first people in the state to see this show!

Our 2018-19 season opener is right around the corner, and we're looking for our cast! We're trying something different for these auditions - instead of preparing a song of your choice, director Jeff Catanese has requested that you prepare a specific song for the character for which you're auditioning. We posted all of the songs and the sheet music here, so you'll know what to prepare!

You must be 18 at the time of auditions to audition, and we encourage anyone who's not familiar with the show to become familiar prior to auditions. It's often described as an R-rated Sesame Street, and - for real - it's definitely R-rated!
