At Centro we are on a journey that prioritizes our community’s dreams and hopes, seeking to engage in actions that will ensure a thriving Latinx community in Dane County. COVID-19 has tested our resilience.
But our dedication to building a more equitable Wisconsin has never wavered – and because of you our commitment to speaking out, partnering, and being a bridge for the needs and voice of Latinx and communities of color is now strengthened. We know that we are strongest when Dane County prioritizes communities of color. Our voice, our humanity, our dignity, our diverse heritage, are all important to crafting a greater, stronger more inclusive narrative for the future.
October was a special month when we celebrated #Resilience as part of our 31st Annual Celebration. We asked you to recommit to Centro, by participating in Centro’s first community-wide appeal. And you said yes. You said yes to strengthening the foundation and resilience of our beautiful organization. Together, hundreds of you helped us to raise $70,000 for Centro – more than we could have ever imagined.
And our friends at UW Health matched $50,000 of these funds dollar for dollar, raising a total of $120,000+ for our agency.
Thank you for investing in Centro, in our youth programs, our wrap-around family supporting services, and our community engagement work. We are so proud and honored that you chose to stand by our side.
We look forward to the season that lies ahead as we continue to heal. We look forward to continuing to plant together the seeds for a more just and equitable future.
