CALVARY'S MISSION & VISION

Mission

A church Mission Statement defines the leadership's vision of congregational purpose and tells you if their vision is in line with God's purposes for your life.

Calvary United Methodist Church is a historic church whose diverse people are guided by God to serve the community with acceptance, care, and love for ALL.

Vision

A Vision Statement helps congregations acknowledge their past (who they were when they were established), identify their present (who they are now), and prepare for their future (who the church wants to be one, three, or five years from now). A Vision always looks forward, to what can be.

We will grow our family of faith to embrace all people. We will develop ministries that nurture and encourage all people to discover and use their spiritual gifts on a journey of faith to serve the community and world.

The Church Management Software Has Upgraded To A New, More User-Friendly Platform

Within the last couple months, we have been implementing the upgrade for the Church Management Software to the new platform. This new, more user-friendly interface allows for better ease of use, more organized grouping of information, a mobile app, and on-line giving. We are in the final stages of testing the on-line giving function and it should be operational within the next month.

To access your account on the new software, please perform the following steps. These steps can be done on either your computer or mobile phone.

1. Visit the following site: https://calvarypgh.churchofficechms.com. You will then be brought to a page that looks like the following:

2. Click on "Forgot Password" at the bottom of the login box. You will then be brought to a page that looks like the following:

3. Enter your email address then click on "Send Password".

4. If the email that you entered in not currently linked to your account in the software, the below message will appear. If this happens, please contact Karen Ferguson at either 724-448-1429 or karen.ferguson.15202@gmail.com and she will update your individual account.

5. If the email is already linked to your account, you will see the following message. An email will be sent to you in a very short amount of time containing your temporary password. You can change this password in your settings, or you can keep it.

6. The email that you receive with your temporary password will look like the following:

7. Please make note of your new Username and Password. These are the credentials that you will be logging in with. Click on the link "You can login here." This will direct you back to the login page. Once you have successfully logged in with your new Username and Password, you will be brought to a page that looks like the following:

8. Please navigate the site and try out all of the links under your name (View, Edit, Giving, Account) as well as the links at the top of the page (Directory, Groups, Calendar). Playing around is always the easiest way to get familiar with the software.

9. There will be a training session held at the church something over the next few months for all those interested in becoming more familiar with the software and all of its capabilities. This training will be announced with enough time to plan to be there. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Karen Ferguson at either 724-448-1429 or karen.ferguson.15202@gmail.com.

10th Annual Race For Grace - Saturday, April 8

Date:  Saturday, April 8, 2017
Time:  7:00am to 1:00pm
Location:  Norwin High School, 251 McMahon Dr, North Huntingdon, PA 15642

As many of you know, Grace Ekis and her family attended Calvary for a number of years. Her grandfather, Reverend Tom Funk, was the pastor at Calvary prior to his retirement and Reverend Larry's appointment. Grace left this world on Valentine’s Day 2008 - not before forever changing everyone who was fortunate enough to know Grace.

The 10th Annual Race For Grace 5K & 1 Mile Walk benefits the Reflections Of Grace Foundation. Race For Grace and its beneficiary Foundation are named after Grace Elizabeth Ekis, a precious 5-year-old who lost her courageous 13-month battle with a rare cancerous brain tumor on Valentine’s Day 2008. Grace’s cancer was a diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a tumor of the brainstem for which there is no known cure and there have been no advances in treatment options for more than 35 years.

Opening activities begin at 7:00am, with the race beginning at 9:00am. We encourage you to register prior to April 3, 2017 to ensure you will receive a race t-shirt. However, we will also accept registrants from 7:00-8:00am on race day. Extra t-shirts will be ordered, but supplies may be limited. Be sure to arrive early to partake in pre-race entertainment and warm-up routine. Also, breakfast will be available at the concession stand starting at 7:00am. After the race, there will be an award ceremony, many fun children’s activities, charitable hair donations, dance performances, Chinese & Silent auctions, and full concession stand of lunch items available for purchase. (If you are interested in donating your hair, please email RaceForGrace@reflectionsofgrace.org). Visit our merchandise and awareness area, which will be open throughout the day. The day’s events will conclude around 1:00pm. We look forward to seeing you on April 8, 2017!
