This Month:
Greetings from Honduras
We had the wonderful opportunity the past two weeks to travel to Honduras - just the two of us since our kids were busy with school. We spent many hours in fun conversation with Guillermo's parents, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. There were quiet days hanging out in Guillermo's parent's modest house on the outskirts of the city of Comayagua, days spent touring the coffee farms of Guillermo's brothers and brother-in-law, opportunities to check out the coffee harvest and talk about the coffee business, and as usual lots of good food and warm laughter.

Photos and Stories
We have so many photos and stories to share that we'll spread them out in upcoming newsletters. For now, we hope you enjoy a short slideshow with a few highlights from our trip.

The 2017 coffee harvest looks beautiful and 2018 should be even better.

Our supply of holiday flavors is thinning, but there are still a number of  bags of each of the flavors to enjoy (or perhaps to give as a Valentine's Day gift?)

  • Bonfire
  • Chocolate Hazelnut Cream
  • Confused Santa
  • Drunken Uncle
  • English Toffee

All five of these flavors are available in 8 oz packages, whole bean and ground and in limited quantities of decaf for $7.50. Check out the website for full descriptions and to confirm availability.

Coffee: A Basic Explanation From Seed to Cup.
A great article from Perfect Daily Grind on all the steps it takes to create your morning cup of coffee. (In case you are wondering after reading the article, our coffee is selectively hand picked, wet processed and sun dried).

Closing Words
"Remind yourself that generosity is a gesture of power. Rather than scanning the environment for confirmation or denial of your worst fears, scan it for someone who could use a kind word or glance. It can be that simple. Whether we are swinging on the hook of grasping, aggression, or numbness, there is one sure way off: to help someone who is also swinging. This is a really good thing to do for others, but also it is good for yourself. When we are afraid, we feel powerless. Generosity is a gesture of power."
