#covcreates for City of Culture
#covcreates – “blessing our city inside out”

Over 30 people came together to share their great ideas for City of Culture 2021 last week. We have collated the main ideas from this session - attached here

We want to follow up to determine exactly what Coventry Christians are prepared to offer and what we should focus on, so all are welcome to a second meeting on Monday 15th July at 7pm at the Henry Fry Centre CV1 3JZ (facebook.com/events/603790426808999/).

Please let us know if you can come, and bring a friend, a church leader, and anyone else you think could contribute. At this next session we will:
1 Propose and decide the doable.
     2. Determine next steps to action
     3. Identify who can do what and when.

You can also join our Facebook group, where discussion will continue.

A dog makes all the difference

HOPE Coventry's Good Neighbours Coventry project continues to link up isolated older people with friends who can make a difference. At assessment, Betty*’s only request was to get out of her flat - as a child, she lived on a farm. Betty was matched to a volunteer befriender, Janet*, who owns a dog. Janet says that Betty visibly relaxes in the dog's presence, so they walk the dog together each week and then have a coffee. Betty has mild dementia and can appear a bit on edge in her home but outside she is a different person. She is much calmer after the visit and sleeps better too.

If you could be the Janet to another Betty, please get in touch with us. We are particularly keen to have more male befrienders too.
