Winter Night Shelter goes from strength to strength
Astounding numbers of volunteers have come forward this year to support guests in Coventry Winter Night Shelter (CWNS) this year - over 350 people are volunteering their valuable time! Over 40 people have been helped so far this winter, with 5 moving into settled accommodation already. CWNS is also very grateful all of the financial and hundreds of physical donations received for the homeless guests this year from individuals, churches, social groups and companies. The Amazon wishlist has been incredibly useful, ensuring that the donations received are exactly what is needed, and financial donations have gone some way in covering core costs. For more details on CWNS, email cwnsbernardo@hopecoventry.org.uk.

They patrol the city centre Friday and Saturday night from 10pm-3am, looking after those who are working and those out enjoying themselves, ensuring they get home safely and that the city is a welcoming place for all. If you are interested and would like to come out on patrol as an observer, contact Isabel McIntyre on 07770160909 or

Visit from the House of Lords

Invitation to meet the Co-founders of Christian Concern

Andrea Minichiello Williams and Pastor Ade Omooba, co-founders of Christian Concern, will be visiting Coventry this Saturday 26th January from 3pm-5pm. In 2018 Christian Concern celebrated 10 years at the forefront of Christian action in this country, particularly in speaking out on gospel issues, often at the vanguard of political, social and legal action.

There has never been a more significant moment for Christians to “speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves”. To hear about the work of Christian Concern, have deeper insight about the state our nation and to consider how the church in Coventry could actively engage with this work, come along to The Hope Centre, Vauxhall Street, Hillfields, Coventry, CV1 5LF. Light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP via the Eventbrite link.

Coventry older people have a fantastic Christmas

Good Neighbours Coventry, the befriending project for Coventry elderly people, ran a fantastic Christmas afternoon tea celebration with sandwiches, tea and cakes, as well as a carol service with a local nursery singing carols to people with dementia. Some attendees at these events had not left the house except to go to medical appointments in months or even years.

Existing volunteers and interested parties are invited to further training on the topics of dementia, scams and engaging cross-generational conversation on Tuesday 5th February at 6pm at St George's Church, Coundon. To confirm attendance, email volunteercelebration@ hopecoventry.org.uk.

If you would like to befriend a local older person and bring joy to their life and yours, just get in touch with the team by emailing goodneighbourscoventry
