Every month the Community Accessibility Navigator will highlight several programs or services that enhance the lives of individuals who have a physical, cognitive or sensory disAbility. Join us in helping to promote the good work that is being done and share with individuals interested in healthy adaptive active living activities.

Wheelchair Basketball and Power Wheelchair Soccer has begun and we are interested in hearing from anyone who would like to get involved with adaptive wheelchair curling, please contact us at the office if you would like to discuss further details.  Registration for our Adaptive Snow Sports will start mid October, for details on how to register please visit our website.

Created in 1975, the BC Blind Sports and Recreation Association has worked with athletes who are visually impaired in the hopes of helping to provide means to a healthy lifestyle for everyone. With programs for infants, children, and adults, BCBSRA is well equipped to help you find just the program and sport for you. Whether you’re playing the sport just for fun or you’re out to become a Paralympic athlete, BCBSRA  is ready to assist you in achieving your goals.

A unique program, Spectrum Rehabilitation not only helps you get back on your feet after an injury, but can also assess your home and workplace for any modifications that might need to be made to ensure optimal safety. With a dedicated staff of occupational therapists and assistants, Spectrum Rehabilitation is fully prepared to assist with services such as cost of future care analysis, disability management program, and work conditioning programs. KidsCan Therapy is a local program run by occupational therapist Diane Graham, who has over twenty years of experience in paediatrics. Through KidsCan, Diane works with children on the Autism spectrum, children with developmental delays, and non-verbal children. She is also able to work in different work environments, opting to help your child in whatever setting works best for them. For more information, please call KidsCan Therapy.
