Having recently started my 10th year at PastorServe, I'm feeling reflective and grateful!
While August 1, 2012, was my official hire date, I actually began with PastorServe on a volunteer basis in June of 2012. For those of us living in Colorado Springs, we remember that smoke-filled summer well as a result of the Waldo Canyon fire! My main focus that summer was to come alongside pastors who'd personally been impacted by the fire. Most often, that involved being present, offering a word of encouragement, and simply listening to their stories--both the points of pain and celebration.
The approach of being present, encouraging and listening has served me well over the past nine years, and it's allowed me to work with well over 1,000 pastors as a shepherd, trusted friend, coach and consultant. I truly believe God has used each interaction with these pastors to strengthen the Church.
In my first newsletter from nine years ago, I conveyed the following related to what I was learning:
I'm learning more deeply what it means to fully rely on the Lord and his leadership and provision. I truly couldn't do what he's called me to do apart from his ongoing presence and strength in my life. Further, I'm learning to slow down and rest daily in God's presence through silence, solitude and contemplative prayer.
Needless to say, God continues to remain faithful, and I continue to learn these and other important lessons :)
Thank you for journeying with me as together we continue to strengthen His Church by serving pastors!
