January 2017 (REVISED)
Dear <<First Name>>, Welcome to the revised January Baker Bark. Please note the correct date of January 28th for the COP Shop opening and a couple of new announcements below that.

Broadway Cop Shop Opening in Broadway Marketplace - January 28th

By Merce Lea, West Washington Park Neighborhood Assoc.
Our Broadway COP Shop (Community Operated Policing Storefront) is returning!  The Broadway Marketplace organization has offered us a space on the east side of the Pep Boys building, between GNC and Radio Shack.   Our new address is 487 S. Broadway #300, though it is actually nearer to the intersection of Virginia and Bannock.  Our COP Shop will be a place for neighbors to visit to pick up information on neighborhood safety, graffiti removal, city services, and police issues.  Our District 3 officers will use this space to write reports, take breaks, meet with neighbors, and spend down time, enabling them to stay here in our neighborhood.

We will be moving in immediately and are planning a Grand Opening on Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Please come join us to learn more about the COP Shop and to pick up goodies from our area merchant partners.  If you have any questions or would be interested in volunteering with us, please contact Merce Lea at Download a brochure about volunteering for the Cop Shop or download an application to apply to be a volunteer.

Warning - Thin Ice!

Baker Resident Ron Tarver writes:
My dog, Mrs Miller fell through the ice at a lake in Arvada.  About 40 feet from the shore.  Four fire trucks, one Animal control truck with towels and heater, and one human ambulance in case I had tried to rescue her.   A scary event.

Editor's note: This is reminiscent of the post in Next Door Neighbor about the boy or boys out on the ice in Washington Park or the goose who was frozen in the ice last winter.
