URGENT APPEALS

Reem Jarousheh is a 12 year old girl and Fahed Salmeh is an 11 year old boy. Both children are from Gaza and both suffer from Epidemolysis Bullosa. In order for Fahed and Reem to enjoy a normal life and to have a good education, like other children, they need help with their school fees, school transportation and with a teacher. To help cover the cost, the PCRF is seeking $5000.

American Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Returns to Palestine

During the first week of September, an Associate Professor of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery from the University of North Carolina, Dr. Anna Cuomo, returned for the third time to Palestine to provide training for local doctors and surgery for children in need. Dr. Cuomo is the head of the PCRF’s Pediatric Orthopedic and Educational Training (POET) project at the Ramallah Medical Complex, which is providing local doctors all forms of training and support in areas related to their field. Gaza nurses start training in
the Huda Al Masri Pediatric Cancer Dept.

The first week of September, two nurses from the Gaza Strip arrived in Beit Jala hospital for a month-long training in treating children with cancer in the Huda Al Masri Pediatric Cancer Dept., which the PCRF opened with the MOH in April, 2013. This is part of the new campaign by the PCRF to build up a new cancer dept. in Gaza, as children there are not getting adequate care due to the siege and lack of specialized care. MORE

French Hand Surgery Mission Returns to Jenin

On September 5, a four-member team of doctors and nurses from France returned to Jenin Hospital in the Northern West Bank for a week of voluntary surgery on patients who otherwise would not get the care that they needed locally. Led by surgeon Prof. Dominique Le Nen, the team included surgeon Dr. Emeline Gauthier, anesthesiologist Dr. Nicole Leroux and scrub nurse Stephane Vielmas. MORE

Cancer prevents this little girl from attending school in Gaza, among other elements of life a child her age should be enjoying. Additionally, Inshirah Said Al Madani had no choice but to travel to Jordan in order to receive treatment for the disease - a journey made difficult by the current blockade.
