2016 Season Review
We are pleased to report on another very successful year for Hendry, Ramsay & Waters (Worldwide) Ltd as the company continues to grow following a great season for both deer and bird shooting in the UK and continued growth with our activities overseas.
The Roe Buck season produced many animals from Fife and Perthshire with some lovely heads, now officially measured, producing bronze, silver and gold medals this season. The Red Stag season was one of the most difficult in recent years with the rut very late due to the total lack of frost and even then, was very “start / stop” from day to day. However, we managed to reach our cull target for stags this season with some nice heads and happy clients. The Red Hind season has also gone well with the mild and relatively dry autumn and early winter producing pleasant conditions for stalking and animals still in very good condition.
The Grouse season was slow to start for us as the early broods had not done at all well in our areas which, sadly, led to cancellations in August due to the lack of mature birds. Fortunately, the later second broods had done much better which allowed a limited programme of grouse which were supported by partridge days and therefore avoided disappointment for our overseas clients who had travelled a long way to enjoy the sport with us in Inverness-shire.
Our UK Partridge and Pheasant days continue to grow from strength to strength with great sport enjoyed everywhere from Inverness-shire in the north to Buckinghamshire in the south. All our UK pheasant and partridge days are now sold for the current season but we do have some availability for partridges in the Spanish sunshine in February & March 2017.
Overseas adventures have already produced some exciting hunting experiences in South Africa (Eastern Cape & Limpopo) Norway & Spain. In 2017 we are adding two excellent shoots in Argentina and France to our portfolio. Vacancies are available in early 2017 for Partridge in the areas of Madrid and Seville, Ibex hunting in the Aragon area of Spain and we also have one more Monteria planned, at two classic estates in Southern Spain, from 10 – 13 February at a very reasonable price.
HRW had the privilege of sponsoring the Scottish Gundog Team who were competing in the Home Nations Field Trial Championship for Retrievers. The event was held to celebrate the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 90th
Birthday. Scotland won the competition, which was held at Windsor Great Park, convincingly.
