Oktoberfest: 19 and 20 October
German language course: Conversational course, starts 26 October
Dear MGS members and friends,
Our famous Oktoberfest is just around the corner and ticket sales has already started. Look forward to be entertained by the well-known Bavarian live band Die Frankenräuber. We made sure that there will be a great variety of food vendors, amongst them of course authentic German food and beverages for you to enjoy. As every year, we will offer a kids corner with games for the little ones.
New in our German class portfolio is a conversational course. This type of course is especially interesting for those who would like to get more confidence in speaking and more depth in using vocabulary.
Hope to see you around.
Take care and best regards,
If you buy 20 tickets, you will get 2 additional tickets for free.
Get your tickets at our office or book in advance and collect your tickets at the entrance on the event day.
A Big Thank You to all our sponsors and supporters

Alliance Française - Movies
We organise films screening twice a month at the Af, usually on the first Friday for French and francophone movies, and third Friday for world cinema films (unless another event clashes with the date). The titles are chosen from my own private collection but of course you are all welcome to make suggestions.
I try to choose films from a wide range of countries, directors, themes, times and style, and always look for quality works that may have been overlooked by the wider public, films that offer original or new windows on people's lives, a fresh approach or "language" in staging humanity's issues.
Admission is free but be sure to book your seats 24 hours before the screening date at the latest so we may prepare the right number of seats.
We usually open our doors at 7.15pm for our now traditional get together when you are welcome to share a glass or two of wine.
Films start at 8pm unless they are particularly long.
All movies have English subtitles and are generally suitable for audiences of 15 and above unless specified.
So, please find below our programme for October:
Friday, October 5:
LA SAPIENZA is a 2015 Franco-Italian production by Eugene Green, an American born French director (we showed two of his previous films @Af: Le Fils de Joseph and Le Pont des Arts).
This film deals with art - and particularly architecture -, the intricacy of creative inspiration and complexity of human communications. As in Eugene Green's previous films, it is a spare but mesmerising portrayal of human relationships and creativity.
English subtitles - Suitable for audiences over 15 -
Friday, October 26
WESTERN : a 2018 film by German director Valeska Grisebach this film borrows from the iconic symbols of the genre in its story of tensions and conflicts between a crew of German construction workers and the community of a small village in Bulgaria where they are stationed. This is a sober, non judgemental and ultimately ambiguous look at cultural differences and male relationships and competition.
A wonderful film nominated at this year's Cannes Festival and unanimously praised by all critics.
I look forward to meeting you again soon;
And wish you a very pleasant Sunday;
