All classes are going
virtual on ZOOM

Beginning today, 11-16-2020

Dear RCDA Dance Families,

We were just notified that YOLO County has moved back into the Purple Tier as of 11-16-2020. We are of course very disappointed that we can not continue with “inside” classes at this time, however, we are grateful that we are completely ready to convert all classes on the regular schedule to the Virtual Format via ZOOM. Over the past few months we have worked very diligently to make our ZOOM classes enjoyable, educational and effective for our students.

We are ready to continue to provide high quality dance classes for all our students via ZOOM until we are able to meet inside for classes again. Above all, the safety of our students, dance families and staff is of our utmost concern and we will continue to comply with local authorities and follow their guidelines to provide quality dance classes in the safest way possible. We are also looking into the possibility of offering some outdoor classes weather permitting. Please stay tuned for more information regarding these outdoor classes.

The ongoing concerns about COVID-19 pose unique challenges to the studio, requiring creative solutions. We are moving quickly to address these challenges, given the rapidly changing nature of the outbreak.

This decision was made after careful consideration of what local government agencies are recommending. We would like our dance community to know that our decisions were made with extreme care and influenced by the most current information from leading health officials.

We are happy to offer our alternative program during this time by converting all of our dance classes to LIVE Zoom Classes! Our faculty teachers will be working remotely, investing their time and energy to continue providing dance education for our families. Our virtual classes will include class warm-ups and feature Recital choreography so our students can practice their routines at home. This will ensure that all of our students are confidently continuing to practice their dance technique at home and be ready to return with confidence as soon as possible. These zoom classes will be easily accessible for all members of RCDA and will be made available to all of our students starting today.

RCDA will continue with our strict cleaning practices, including our expanded efforts of disinfecting and sanitizing our studio. The health of our students, teachers, staff and dance families remains our top priority, and we will continue to monitor new developments closely.

Please continue to check our website and emails for additional updates as we manage the daily fluctuations of this current unique situation. Zoom Class login information will be sent out today for all RCDA regularly scheduled classes.

We appreciate your support and patience as we navigate this new adventure together!

Most Sincerely,

Miss Tirza & the RCDA Faculty / Staff

  • Please log into the ZOOM Class at least 5-10 minutes prior to the class time and remain in the WAITING ROOM until admitted in by your Teacher
  • Please be sure to be in a safe place to dance and be sure the camera can see your entire body
  • Please try and be in a well lit area with good lighting
  • Please be sure that cameras will remain ON during the entire class
  • Each class will be about 50 minutes long

TIPS FOR ZOOM CLASSES:

To prepare, here are some helpful ideas for making your child's Zoom Dance Class successful:

  • Find a safe and spacious place for your child to take the class from home. Make the space special for little ones so they feel they are really in a dance class by minimizing distractions if possible. We are open to parents taking class with their child if that helps them focus.

  • We encourage students to wear proper dance attire just as they would in a regular dance class. Shoes will depend on the surface you are using (we encourage students to wear the correct shoes if it is safe to do so).

  • If possible, connect your device to your television (via HDMI cord/air play, etc) so the picture is larger for the students to see the teacher.

  • When logging in, please be sure to change the name on your device to the student's first and last name. This is an important security measure as we will only admit registered students and must recognize their name.

  • Students will need to log on to zoom about 5 minutes before their class start time and wait in the "Waiting Room" for teachers to admit them. Classes will be approximately 50-55 minutes in length.

We applaud all of our dance families for being so flexible and keeping dance alive in your child's life. We are beyond grateful to have all of you supporting our studio, faculty teachers and our community!

Measuring for 2021 Recital Costumes

Hello Dance Families!

Our NEW 2020-2021 Season is well underway and we are starting to plan for our 26th Annual Recital which will be held June 2021! It is now time to start measuring our students for their Recital Class Costumes. We are measuring students during their regular class days & times. As always, please be sure your student is following our “Dress Code” as this makes it easier for getting accurate measurements. Below is a link to our “Dress Code” to check out for each class/style we offer:

https://www.rivercitydance.net/dress-code

If you prefer to measure your own child or your child is taking virtual classes, please contact us as soon as possible and we will send you instructions on how to do so.

We are excited to have our 26th Annual Recital and have ALL of our students have the opportunity to perform on stage! We are thrilled with how last season’s Recital turned out, and understand this year may also be a bit different than how we have held our Recitals in the past. Above all, we want to make sure all of our dancers and their families are comfortable with participating. If for any reason you would prefer your child simply continue with dance lessons and perhaps opt out of the recital and costume purchase, please let us know as soon as possible.

Here are the details:

RECITAL COSTUMES

  • We will be measuring dancers in their classes starting the week of November 2nd. If you prefer to measure your child or your child is taking virtual classes, please reply to this email and we will send you instructions on how to measure your own child.

  • Costume information including pictures, prices, accessories, shoes and other details will be made available on our website in December 2020.

  • Costume payments will be automatically processed and paid with your payment method we have on file for your family account on: January 09, 2021

RECITAL DANCES

  • Many classes have already begun learning their Recital dances starting in October 2020. This will continue in your child’s weekly classes leading up to the Recital in June 2021.

  • Dancers that are currently taking virtual classes will eventually need to transition back to in-studio classes no later than March 01, 2021 in order to participate in their dances that will be performing at the 26th Annual Recital.

2021 RECITAL DATES & DETAILS

  • Our 26th Annual Recital theme will be revealed very soon… stayed tuned for this EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!

  • Our 26th Annual Recital Dates are scheduled for:
    • June 25, 26 & 27, 2021 (Classes will be assigned to a Recital “Cast” Date in April 2021)

We are so grateful for all of our amazing dance families sticking with us during this time and we are equally as excited to be dancing with our students in-person at the studio and virtually!
