The Annual General Meeting is looming fast, it will be great to see you at that meeting to engage and provide guidance to those putting themselves forward.   If you want to participate in the organisation through committees or in a governance role please put yourself forward for election.  The Vice-Commodore and the Rear Commodore – Racing are not standing for election this year – please consider nominating for these roles.

Your club has come through the past 12 month period in good shape, having consolidated after the pile repairs and Covid and now we can have an eye to the future.  The signs that point to a healthy club are things like the number of people offering to help, the increased number of new members and the great many who are making the club busy on Friday nights.  More often than not the club is humming around the time of the Friday draw and the dining room is put to good use.

Winter racing is beset with a rainy-weekend cycle but never the less the skippers and crews are out there; no such thing as a bad day on the water.  And with a good number looking forward to a Black and White Cocktail evening we should all be rocking on Saturday night.

I look forward to seeing you in the club.

Race Report
Marine & General Winter Boulder Bank Series – Race 2 -
Sunday 27th June
Raining cats and dogs, with a forecast for light to variable winds, the crews were all wondering  whether or not madness had set in.  A decision to delay an hour helped see the back of the rain and set up the rest of the day.

A nice nor’easter was blowing as Same Cafe dropped the “top” mark out near the Cardinal mark and Tam headed sou’west a mile to set up the start-line, only to be greeted by a developing light sou’wester. This grew across the bay but stopped short of the so called “top” mark which then became the start, where Tam set up and sent the fleet off on a spinnaker run, only to be met by the header.  So spinnakers down and the day settled into a pleasant two lap windward leeward course with some nice shifts to see lead changes occur.  The sun came out and all was good.  Witchdoctor sailed well to win on line and handicap, but unfortunately the wind dropped out so not all the boats managed to finish within the time limit.

Windward Leeward racing is a very popular form of racing, giving crews and skippers plenty to do and think about, but it does need more on water support.  Without Tam on his yacht Coo-ee, along with Tony and Lloyd who kindly assisted him, this format would not be possible and with the help of another crew in a mark laying/moving boat the events would be much more satisfying for all.  If you would be able to help in this capacity for the next race/s on 25th July please let Deb know.
