To support international students and scholars who plan to stay in Charlottesville over winter break, the International Studies Office, Student Council’s International Student Affairs Committee, and Global Greeters have put together events and communication tools to keep everyone connected.

Upcoming Events

Registration is required for all events.

In-person events are currently limited to 6 participants maximum. All participants are required to wear a face covering, maintain at least 6 feet from others, and follow all current COVID-19 safety guidelines set by UVA, local, state, and event facility officials (if applicable).

Back to the Future Screening at The Paramount Theater
January 16, 3-5pm at The Paramount Theater on the Downtown Mall

Back to the Future (rated PG) is a 1985 classic science fiction film about Marty McFly being transported back into the 1950s in a time-traveling DeLorean car when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown goes wrong. Watch the trailer

We have free tickets for participants on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants will be seated separately at the theater unless they live in the same household. We have a limited number of tickets for two participants in the same household to be seated together; both parties must register separately. See The Paramount Theater safety guidelines

You can easily get to the Downtown Mall by taking the trolley or Charlottesville city bus or your own car, if you have one. Please let us know in the registration form if you need alternative transportation.

Trip to Monticello
January 21, 1-4pm

Explore Thomas Jefferson’s home at Monticello. Participants can choose to go on a self-guided tour of the house and/or explore the beautiful grounds outside. You can meet up with our group at Monticello's visitor area shuttle bus pickup location to take the shuttle together to the house or you can walk the approximately 1/2 mile trail from the parking area to the house. Tickets to enter Monticello will be paid for, and any transportation costs (Uber/Lyft/Cab) can be reimbursed by sending the receipt to See Monticello’s safety guidelines

UVA History Tour
January 23, 11am or January 24, 2pm

Interested in UVA history? Take a tour of the University with the Guide Service, socially distant and masks required. The tour will give you an overview of the 200 year old history and will likely cover topics such as early students, slavery, integration, co-education, eugenics, and activism at the University.
