As we wrap up a busy and eventful fall semester, we are also beginning to look ahead and prepare for programming in the spring semester. Welcome UGA is a campus-wide effort to ensure that all of our students have opportunities to engage and find a sense of home at UGA within their first 6 weeks of each semester.

The Department of Student Transitions is building a comprehensive calendar of all Spring 2021 Welcome UGA events being hosted across campus, and would also like to promote and support your office’s upcoming Signature Events.

Read below to learn more about how to:

  • Submit Welcome UGA events on the UGA Calendar

  • Submit your department’s Signature Event request 

Submitting a Welcome UGA Event:

Your program qualifies as a Welcome UGA event if it is…

  • Within the first 6 weeks of the Spring 2021 semester (January 11—February 19)

  • Free and open to all UGA students 

  • Designed to promote student engagement and involvement with your office, staff, or peers

If you have an event that you’d like to add to the Welcome UGA Calendar, follow the instructions below:

To increase visibility of your event, add the hashtag #WelcomeUGA to your event submission so that students are able to filter Welcome UGA events

Submit a UGA Calendar Event

Submitting a Signature Event Request:

The Department of Student Transitions will be curating a list of select Welcome UGA events from each department across campus that will be marketed and promoted as Signature Events. In addition to appearing on the Welcome UGA Calendar, the list of Spring 2021 Signature Events will also be:

  • Highlighted and emphasized to current and incoming students as highly-recommended events to attend for the Spring 2021 semester

  • Widely promoted and marketed on various UGA social media and Listserv accounts  

  • Included on print and digital advertising on behalf of the Department of Student Transitions 

Signature Events must meet all Welcome UGA event criteria (listed above), and are limited to one (1) per department. You may choose any program as your department’s Signature Event. This event will be many students’ first interaction with your department, so Signature Events should represent your office as a whole. 

Feel free to submit multiple Signature Event requests for your department. The Department of Student Transitions will take these into consideration upon selection of the final Spring 2021 Signature Events list.  

Please submit your department’s Signature Event request(s) no later than January 5 at 5:00PM.
