Leeds Adult Palliative and End of Life Care Strategy 2021-2026

We are pleased to announce that Leeds has produced an updated strategy for palliative and end of life care. The strategy has brought together diverse people, professions, perspectives and possibilities to help deliver a care system that is fit for the people of Leeds and to deliver the vision:

“People will die well in their place of choice; carers and the bereaved will be well supported”

This is the cornerstone of the strategy and we all have an important role in helping us achieve this everyone in Leeds. The importance of palliative and end of life care has been highlighted throughout the pandemic and it continues to grow, with a projected increase in demand and complexity.

The strategy sets a clear direction for the City as to how we will meet this demand over the next five years, address inequalities to create genuinely inclusive services and adapt to meet the changing needs of people at the end of life.

LPCN Annual Report 2020-21

We have recently published our Annual Report which summarises the networks activity over the last 12 months.

The report highlights our achievements, both in its response to the pandemic and our ability to progress other important parts of the work-plan. It is also critical that we learn from the challenges, as well as the success, of this unprecedented and uniquely testing year.

Healthwatch Leeds - End of Life Care in the Community Report

Healthwatch Leeds recently carried out a piece of work to find out about people’s experience of end of life care in a community setting (care home, hospice, own home).

This information forms part of the “Leeds Dying Well in the Community” project which is looking at the current system.

Feedback from the report will help shape the future of service redesign and included: “Excellent care from the care home. Treated all family and mother with care and respect in difficult circumstances.”
