1. OCTCM updated self quarantine requirements

All students and staff are expected to follow provincial guidelines. These differ between vaccinated and un-vaccinated individuals:

  • Vaccinated:
    • If you have any symptoms of COVID, assume you are positive and self isolate for 5 days. Do not return until after 5 days and a minimum of 24 hours (or 48 hours if gastrointestinal symptoms) of no symptoms.
    • If you have a positive Rapid Antigen Test, assume you are positive and self isolate for 5 days. Do not return until after 5 days and a minimum of 24 hours of no symptoms or 24 hours (or 48 hours if gastrointestinal symptoms) after your first negative test.
  • Un-vaccinated:
    • If you have any symptoms of COVID, assume you are positive and self isolate for 10 days. Do not return until after 10 days and a minimum of 24 hours (or 48 hours if gastrointestinal symptoms) of no symptoms.
    • If you have a positive Rapid Antigen Test, assume you are positive and self isolate for 10 days. Do not return until after 10  days and a minimum of 24 hours (or 48 hours if gastrointestinal symptoms) of no symptoms or after your first negative test.
  • All:
    • In both of the above situations your household will also need to self isolate. This also means that if a member of your household has COVID symptoms, you should self isolate according to the above policies.

N95/KN95 and Face Shields:

We are strongly recommending that all staff and students wear well fitting N95 or KN95 masks as well as face shields or eye protection during clinics and practicums. These continue to be the best way to protect yourself from COVID when in close contact with a positive case. This extends to the quarantine. If you are properly wearing an N95 or KN95 and eye protection, you will not need to self quarantine if you are in contact with someone who tests positive unless you begin to have symptoms.

Missed Clinics and Labs:

If you or a household member has any symptoms or test positive for COVID19, please uphold the above self isolation policies and do not return to classes or clinics. Contact your instructors or Campus via email or phone to make arrangements.

Thank you to each of you for continuing your diligence and keeping our community safe. There has been no know transmission at either Campus and we want to keep it that way.

3. Arrangements for Spring 2022:
In order to provide a safe learning environment for all the students, OCTCM provides both online lectures and in-person practicums for Spring 2022. Students should follow the instructions and arrangements from the Academic Office to attend classes on time and make proper preparations for tests and exams. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Academic Office.

4. COVID-19 Health and Safety Measures
In order to keep our community safe, masks are still required indoor at all times. Everyone should also practice social distancing to reduce the risk of infection. Attention should be paid to personal hygiene. Remember to wash your hands frequently with soap for at least 20 seconds each time. If you need to go out, you should avoid going to crowded places, keep a distance of 2 meters from others, wear a mask, and reduce contact as much as possible. If you feel sick or unwell, please stay at home. In case of infection, do not report to a hospital or clinic immediately. Return home, self-isolate, and report to Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000. If you need immediate medical attention you should call 911 and mention your travel history and symptoms.
