WITS 30th Anniversary Female Leadership Series
We are delighted to introduce the WITS Leadership Series which explores leadership and women working in STEM. The series consists of eight webinars and launches next Wednesday the 24th February and concludes on the 24th April. There is no charge for this unique eight-part Leadership Series and we encourage you & your colleagues to attend as many of the webinars as possible. There will be a separate email with booking links and all information will be on the website.

Welcome to WITSWORDS February 2021

WITS Chair Andrea Johnson writes:
Join us @12 noon on Wednesday 24 February. I will be hosting a fireside chat with Dr Norah Patten the Irish aeronautical engineer. This is the first in our series of women in leadership events this year all exploring the many aspects of women in leadership. Book your place!

Thank you to all who joined the WITS Strategy Information briefing last week. It was lovely to meet you and update you on all the work in developing the WITS Strategy 2021-2025. Thanks to the subcommittee chairs for the briefing and we are looking for volunteers for the Communications, Events, Policy and Research subcommittees. Please email WITS  if you'd like to get involved.

The next WITS Reads takes place on 9 March 2021. The book is "Whistleblower: My Journey to Silicon Valley and Fight for Justice at Uber" by Susan Fowler. It is an "unbelievable true story of the young woman who faced down one of the most valuable startups in Silicon Valley history–and what came after." Members please email WITS to take part and to join the WITS Reads group on Goodreads.

HEA Gender Equality Enhancement Fund 2020
WITS welcomes the outcomes of the HEA Gender Equality Enhancement Fund 2020. Congratulations to UCD (Dr Catherine Mooney and Dr 
Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain) for the You can be what you can see: pSTEM Role Models project. WITS is delighted to be a partner in the project. WITS corporate member IADT was funded for the Irish Network for Gender Equality in Computing (INGENIC), congratulations. More on the WITS website.

Embassy of Ireland, Belgium and USA, St. Brigid's Day 2021
Irish Embassies worldwide celebrate St Brigid's Day  to highlight and to honour the role and creativity of women in society. WITS was represented at the Embassy of Ireland, Belgium webinar on 2 February by honorary member Dr Ena Prosser and Dr Norah Patten. Dr Norah Patten was also a speaker at the Embassy of Ireland USA Shooting for the Stars webinar. More here.

Native bee stamps from An Post. The four stamps are based on illustrations by botanical artist Shevaun Doherty and feature a Bumble Bee, a Heather Bee, a Tawny Mining Bee and an Ashy Mining Bee, all native to Ireland.
