Climate Change
The theme of the summer has been climate change. The President signed Ireland's Climate Bill, the IPCC published its Sixth Assessment report with its pessimistic picture about the climate and all the extreme weather worldwide. It can be hard to see what we as individuals can do bur there is help such as climate action advice from SEAI. Enjoy the eco-friendly dryer from SciFest via Twitter. Sometimes the old ways are good.

WITS Update

Welcome to WITSWORDS September 2021

Note from chair Dr Andrea C Johnson

Welcome everyone to our September newsletter, as I write I can’t believe we are in September! I hope you all had a good break over the summer months. As we face into autumn we have lots of exciting opportunities to connect and learn. You’ll be seeing over the coming weeks news about our Student Series, or bi-annual Mary Mulvihill lecture and follow-up events from our Expert Think-In.
I’m delighted to welcome Google as a new corporate partner and am looking forward to working with them. We will be starting our student recruitment renewal over the coming weeks, so do keep an eye out for that email.
I’ll be representing WITS at a number of events over the coming weeks. I am working with IDA to host a gender diversity workshop for their members and WITS have also been invited to address the National Skills Council later this month, more of this to follow.
Enjoy the newsletter and looking forward to connecting with as many of you as possible over the coming months at our events and coffee meets ups.

Thanks for reading WITSWORDS. If you have events, initiatives or just something you think may be of interest to WITS members please email WITS before 1 October 2021.
