We all want our food to taste delicious. One key to a delectable dish is seasoning the food throughout the cooking process.

My go-to seasoning is simply kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper. But there are times when I want or need to incorporate more flavor. Just like most of you, I make my own rubs and sauces, but I don’t want to get out ten different spice jars to make my barbecue rub when I’m cooking dinner. So, I keep pre-made rubs and sauces on hand. Pre-made rubs and sauces are quick and easy to use and are a fantastic way to enhance the flavor of your food.

To showcase Meadow Creak rubs and sauces, I made a shrimp dish that is perfect as an appetizer, main dish, or part of a surf and turf dinner.

If you’re unfamiliar with the “Steven Raichlen BBQ 500 Club,” it’s comprised of enthusiastic barbecuers who are grilling and smoking their way through the groundbreaking book, The Barbecue! Bible, the first book in the Barbecue! Bible series.

Spearheaded by Robert and Alynne Douglass, who ambitiously cooked their way through the book when they were sidelined by the pandemic, the Club has been thriving on Facebook. The group published its first suggested menu last month, and offered a 30 minutes on a Zoom call with Steven to those who are the first to complete the plan and post their photos to Facebook.

Among them were Sam and Charlene Swanlund, who selected this month’s seasonal menu.
