EXPLORE YOUR POTENTIAL: Director of Public Relations, Valen Ng

Hong Kong Jayceettes is a group of passionate and talented ladies with expertise in diverse professional fields! This month, we are happy to have Director Valen to share with us some useful knowledge on cloud communications!

Industry: Business Development / Cloud Communications (雲端通訊)

Service Year: 6

Brief Job Description: I help businesses better engage and connect with their end users by providing them the ability to add communication channels (voice calls, messaging, and chat) across their websites, apps, and business systems.

Career Highlight: I was thrown into a Director role, though in a small company, after 4 years in the workforce. At the height, I was managing 8 people, some of whom were older than me. Fortunately or not, I had decided to relocate to Asia and left the role to pursue a new chapter.

Expert Sharing: A lot of people toss the term "cloud" around and don't know what it means or why it is relevant to us. Think about renting vs. buying! If you scale the type of benefits - from leasing rather than buying a car, for example - across a large group of people, this experience benefits the consumer as well as the leasing company.

Remarks: Got questions? Email D Valen at / to learn more about Cloud Communications! Visit D Valen's Linkedin page to know her on a professional level:

EXUDE YOUR CHARISMA: Director of Membership Affairs, Christal Leung

This month, we have Director Christal who is in the skin care formulation field to share with us some useful information on how to discern your skin type! As a skin care branding and formula specialist, Christal originally wrote this article for Healthy Skin Magazine, and modified for the official Hong Kong Jayceettes publication - E-SNAPSHOTS!

Know it well; treat it right!

Your skin type is much more complicated than a straight-forward, single-adjective oil/dry/combo description, but requires your scrutiny to observe its behavior to come up with a conclusion --that can only hold its own for a transient period of time-- until hormones, life style, life phase, geographic location...etc kicks in and tweet it bit by bit!

Therefore, learning how to decipher your skin and crack the code on what products are truly suitable is a skill useful for a life time to curate a skin care routine that evolves along with the physical changes of your skin, getting the most out of the money and time you spend on taking care of the biggest (in area!) organ of your body!
Let's begin with asking the question: "what is skin type?" Your skin type is the interpretation of your skin's attributes including outlook, feel, and behavior. These characteristics can be a result of genetics, epi-genetics, as well as other cellular internal and external influences. Beauticians and therapists usually begin with visual assessment, followed by finding out the skin's oil-to-water ratio:

Oil-prone (
油性): shine from excessive sebum activity; blackhead, comedone, and acne prone, often associated with enlarged pores

Combination (
混合性): extreme uneven, and regional skin behavior, sometimes associated with excess shine, congestion, enlarged pores around T-zone yet dry around cheeks and other areas
