Dear CHMS Families,
It is with both great joy and sadness to announce that Ms. Diane Torti, our incredible Administrative Assistant in the main office, has taken a new position and will no longer be with us at CHMS. She will be moving to the district office to take a full year position working with Human Resources. Her smile, gracious nature, professional abilities and daily happiness will be genuinely missed, but luckily she is not too far away.
Ms. Carmen Beltran is our new Administrative Assistant who is taking over this great role and multiple responsibilities. Her bubbly personality, numerous years of experience and kind nature are just a few of the qualities which stood out in her interviews. We are very excited to have her join our CHMS family, so please be sure to welcome her when you stop by to visit.
As always, thank you for the consistent support and thank you for lending us your learners each day!
Dr. Levi Brown
Next week is Red Ribbon Week at CHMS. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco and drug prevention awareness campaign that is observed annually in schools across the country. We will be kicking off Red Ribbon Week with our Matt Wilhelm Assembly on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Please see email from Dr. Brown send on 10/23 for details.
As part of our Red Ribbon celebration, we encourage students to exhibit their commitment to living a drug-free life by participating in our Spirit themed days as outlined below:
Monday is…Wear RED. Put a stop to drugs!
Tuesday is…Wear pajamas. Put the idea of drugs to sleep and be comfortable with who you are!
Wednesday…Wear your favorite band/performer t-shirt and listen to music at lunch. Tune out drugs!
Thursday is Halloween…Either wear your costume or wear orange and black. Creep it real, make choices that are positive for you!
As of this past Thursday, October 24, you are now able to schedule your student(s)’ Parent-Teacher mini-conference(s) through Skyward Family Access. Mini-conferences are times for you to check in with your child’s individual teachers for about five minutes apiece. These mini-conferences will be held on Monday, November 25 and Tuesday, November 26. Sign-up for mini-conferences will close Friday, November 15.
Unlike in our elementary schools, these mini-conferences are elective; they are not mandatory.
This year we are offering more mini-conference options. You will sign up on Skyward for a session when all teachers will be available to meet in the Gym/Cafeteria. You can use that time to see your child(ren)’s teachers.
Team conferences will only be scheduled by grade level teams when they feel it is necessary.
If a team conference is requested for your child, you do not need to sign up for mini-conferences.
Login to your Skyward Family Access: skywardfamily.d181.org
Click on the Conferences tab
Select All Conferences to view what is available for your student
Click on “Select a Time”
The list of time slots that are open will appear. Click the Select button to reserve a spot. A confirmation will appear with the conference details. To confirm click Save or else click Back to select a different one. A confirmation email will be sent.
To view conferences you have manually scheduled or an instructor has scheduled click on View Scheduled Times.

Help us continue to bring programs and experiences that will enrich your child’s experience at CHMS. We have just four days left to donate and need your help to reach our goal. The minimum operating budget goal is $20,000 and we are at $17,500.
What are CHMS PTO funds used for?
- The majority of funds are used to help the teachers with classroom needs. Recent examples include, new bike racks and flexible seating in the classrooms.
- motivational speakers for all school assemblies
- guest speakers in the classroom
This is just a sampling of what the PTO provides with monies raised during our annual fundraiser.
If we pass $20,000, the additional funds may be used for these special projects:
- sound-absorbing panels for the cafeteria
- exercise equipment to be used in PE classes, such as rowing machines and airbikes
Thank you for your consideration! Click HERE to donate.
Thank you to all who have already donated!

All active PTO members received an email on Sept. 30 asking you to create an account with Membership Toolkit and to verify and save your personal information in the CHMS online directory.
If you have not logged into the Membership Toolkit app yet, please do so ASAP. We need all parents to login and verify their personal data immediately to ensure you receive all PTO announcements and updates throughout the school year.
To access the online directory on your phone, download the Membership Toolkit app.
To access the directory on your computer, enter the URL: www.chmspto.membershiptoolkit.com

Thank you for your assistance with the smooth transition to Membership Toolkit, our new online directory provider and communication system. If you have any other questions, please email: email@example.com.
