Best of the Nest Award September

Dear CHMS Families,
As you may recall from last year when this was initiated, our amazing PTO sponsors our staff appreciation award, the “Best of the Nest” with a premium parking spot for the winner! Staff members nominate each other based on:

  • Who has inspired you?
  • Who is making you a better staff member?
  • Who is making your day more enjoyable?
  • Who is doing great things for kids?
  • Who is consistently in your corner?
  • Who is implementing innovative strategies in the building?

This award continues to demonstrate the kind and giving staff we have here at CHMS. The incredible words that are written toward each other in response to the thoughtful actions taken are inspiring.

This month, Mary Youngman (School Nurse) was our lucky winner! Mary is a kind, thoughtful, and considerate individual, who always considers the individual needs of all her patients. Her gentle and caring manner toward all CHMS learners is truly moving. Not only does she assist all students each day, but she also attends our field trips, to help ensure student safety. If you get a moment to congratulate her when you are at CHMS, please do it.

Congratulations again to Mary (and to all of our staff)- the work they do each day is life changing!

7th Grade Field Trip to Irons Oaks 9/18

Just a friendly reminder that seventh grade students will be going to Irons Oaks on Wednesday, September 18.    Students will participate in the Teams Challenge Course, not the High Ropes Course, Climbing Tower, or Power Pole.  Students should have turned in signed waivers to their advisory teachers.

Seventh graders will attend the outdoor Irons Oaks field trip despite any unfavorable weather conditions; however, the forecast is currently calling for 85℉ and sunny, so it should be a great day.  Students are reminded to bring a sack lunch, and no peanuts/tree nuts can be packed in field trip lunches.  Please make sure that all items packed in the lunch are disposable/recyclable.

Girls’ Basketball Info Session 9/17

There will be an informational meeting for all 7th and 8th grade girls interested in basketball on Tuesday, September 17 at 3:20 p.m. Tryouts will take place on Wednesday, September 25 and Thursday, September 26 from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.  In order to tryout, students must have a current physical on file with Mary Youngman and a completed Agreement to Participate form.  Please contact Mike Piper, 7th grade coach, or Jen Scheuerman, 8th grade coach, if you have any questions.

Clubs and Activities Fair 9/26

Do you enjoy bass fishing? Do you care about the environment? Maybe you have always wanted to be in a musical play or love trying to solve the Rubik’s Cube?  Have you always wanted to represent CHMS at public events as our school mascot Eddie the Eagle? Well, there is a club or activity right here for you at CHMS! The PTO welcomes all students to attend the Clubs and Activities Fair on Thursday, September 26, 2019. The fair will be during your child’s long advisory period from 8:25 a.m.-8:45 a.m. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A NEW TIME. There are over 40 different clubs, activities, and sports available for students to be involved in at CHMS. Come get information on all of the wonderful club and activities offered by talking to the teacher supervisors and students in the club.
