Welcome to our August Newsletter!

express News in Brief

We have had an incredibly busy July, including going to Westminster for the launch of the Westminster Autism Commission Report - 'A Spectrum of Obstacles' and taking part in the Kingston Rotary Club, Dragon Boat Challenge!

Over August, we are taking a break (as much the Summer Holidays are a break!). We will be in the office for planned meetings only but we are still available by phone and email. Our groups will be back in September.

We are still working on providing even more evidence that there is a need for services! We really do need all parent/carers to take a few minutes to complete our survey

Please could we ask as many people as possible to sign up to easyfundraising. It doesn't cost you anything and you can raise money for express when you shop online. You can also set up a regular donation via direct debit on our local giving page.

Express is run by parent/carer volunteers. We have an excellent dedicated small team of volunteers but we really do need support with fundraising to help cover our increasing costs. Please do consider fundraising for us, however big or small it all helps! Some ideas ... Coffee mornings, cake sales, quiz night in your local, good as new sale or pamper evening. Please also nominate us in your local supermarket schemes or look out for community funds we can apply for. We really need your help!

Your comments are always welcome - please click here to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.

best wishes,

On 17th July Express launched our first ever dragon boat team at the annual Rotary Club challenge event in Canbury Gardens.

We are immensely proud that several young people on the autism spectrum took part. They were joined by teenagers volunteering from the National Citizenship scheme and some brave dads.

Having only met each other an hour beforehand, the team took to the water to race against other charity teams in three heats.

With each heat Team Express speeded up, achieving a magnificent best time of 1.10 seconds - an impressive result considering they were the youngest team in the competition!

Can you help show your support by sponsoring our intrepid young team?

We really want to ensure they know their efforts are fully appreciated and reach our £1,500 target. You can donate from £2 and if lots of people do we will reach our target.

We have a local giving fundraising page set up for the event www.localgiving.org/fundraising/expressdragonboatchallenge
