2017 has been an exciting year filled with many life changes! As many of you know, I am growing a new life inside me, and he is due to come into this crazy world early next year!

That said, I will be officially on family leave beginning January 1, 2018, and plan to return to seeing clients on May 1, 2018. As time and life allows, I will be in and out of the office in January and will still be answering emails throughout my leave, but I appreciate your patience as it may take longer than usual for me to reply.
While I am away, I will have two wonderful acupuncturists covering my practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Janice Mao and Lynn Belcher. Please see their bios and hours below. Friday, Saturday and Sunday coverage is still TBD, so stay tuned for updates. If you would like to set up an appointment for January with either Janice or Lynn before the end of the year, please feel free to email me directly. After January 1, 2018, please contact them directly for scheduling. Both are in-network with Blue Shield.
I hope that each of you has a healthy and happy holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you and continuing your care when I return in 2018!

Janice Mao is a board certified acupuncturist and herbalist. She holds a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is currently completing a Doctorate at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is also a Certified Massage Therapist, trained in Shiatsu, incorporating positional release technique and acupressure.
Janice represents the 3rd generation of Chinese Medicine Doctors in her family. Her exposure to Chinese Medicine began as a child, raised in a traditional Chinese household where acupuncture along with herbs and food were routinely used as therapy for common ailments. She was inspired by and studied under her maternal grandmother, Dr. Jane Wu and uncle, Dr. Wen Wu. Other clinical experience includes rotations at California Pacific Medical Center, Sutter Health Stroke Center, ACTCM Community Clinic and Auricular Clinic, and women’s health study under Dr. Jennifer Ashby.
As the mother of a young daughter, Janice has a natural interest and expertise in women’s health, from fertility to postpartum through to pediatric care. She also has particular interests in endocrine and digestive disorders, emotional health, acute and chronic pain, and stroke rehabilitation. With a strong foundation in Western medicine, Janice integrates traditional Chinese medicine with the understanding of science-based functional medicine.
Because Janice is warm, sincere, intuitive and knowledgeable, she’s especially good at connecting with people. She takes a holistic approach to devise an individualized and comprehensive treatment plan that not only addresses the presenting complaint, but also treats the root cause of an ailment. Her goal is to restore the body, mind, and spirit to a balanced state of health.
After January 1, 2018, please email Janice at janice.mao@gmail.com or call/text (415) 202-3683 to schedule an appointment.

Lynn Belcher, L.Ac.

Thursdays 8am-2pm (Dan Tian Wellness)
I am an advocate for the WHOLE persons’ intrinsic healing ability. In simple terms, the body strives to be healthy, yet often becomes conditioned otherwise and needs to be nudged toward balance. (Acupuncture does this!) I respect the holistic intelligence of the body system and advocate the power of conscious lifestyle choices. I am a resource for educating clients to access power and vitality through gains in self-empowerment, awareness of destructive patterns and choosing happiness. There is momentum in engaging in our own healing process. Let’s turn the tides. I returned to San Francisco in March 2017 after a year of sabbatical delving into indigenous healing practices native to Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia and Colombia. I was fortunate to explore the belief systems and practices for resolving dis-ease, and “be with” the wisdom inherent to our natural life cycles and rhythms. I am greatly humbled….and inspired to share these gifts with my patients and all explorers of natural medicine.
