1.) No Spray Call
Did you know you can request the City of South Portland to abstain from spraying pesticides in front of your house?
Call 767-7635 (South Portland Public Works) between 7am and 3:30pm and ask to be added to the no spray list. With one quick phone call you can make our city a healthier place and show your support for the bees and the bay.
2.) Nitrogen Nab Event
Want to get more involved? The Friends of Casco Bay are holding an event on July 10th and they need volunteers to collect water samples. Find the details here:
Scientists are worried that increased fertilizer runoff from lawns is contributing to nitrogen pollution. Join hundreds of other volunteers as we measure how much nitrogen is in our bay.
3.) Community Meeting/Party Update
Thanks to all who were part of our semi-annual meeting/party on May 17th - a great success! Around 40 of us got together to reconnect, meet new folks, and share scrumptious food. We looked at what we did this year and what we still need to support. Everyone had a chance to share ideas of what new initiatives PSP might pursue in the future. Our own Dr. Priscilla Skerry, a licensed Naturopathic Doctor, gave an illuminating presentation on how toxic chemicals can negatively impact our personal health. What a fun and informative evening!
Those of you who couldn't make it, we hope to see you at the next one. Stay tuned! We look forward to seeing you very soon!
