 September Wellness Champions

Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education Wellness Committee - spearheaded by Danny Balderson and Aaron Stout have been working on an initiative to make health and wellness a part of their programming and culture. The rationale for the program is to make health and wellness an important part of the education Faculty of Ed students are receiving, so they might carry that forward into the schools and contexts where they work.
Take a look at the digital signage around campus celebrating some of their Faculty and Staff and their various forms of wellness. Here are a couple of examples!
Hats off to the Faculty of Education for being Wellness Champions and sharing their stories!

More staff and faculty will be featured next month!

Tips for Hosting Healthy Potlucks
Check out the following article from AHS Registered Dietitians
Healthy Potlucks are a great way to bring together work teams, community groups, or friends and family. They provide the chance to share tasty food, and set aside time to have fun, catch up, or get to know one another.

You can find several healthy potluck themes and sign-ups sheets to make it easy to set up, join, and help out.

U of L continuing or term academic and non-academic employees eligible for UPass
The University is pleased to offer employees in continuing or term academic and non-academic positions the opportunity to opt in to the Universal Transit Pass (UPass) program starting September 2019. The UPass program offers an environmentally friendly and sustainable program.

The current cost for the UPass per term is $82 (subject to change based on City of Lethbridge Transit rates) and can be paid in person at the Cash Office in Anderson Hall between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. You will need to provide your U of L ID number and picture ID.  The fee can be paid by cash, cheque or debit card. The cost will be the same, regardless of when you make the purchase during the term, and will not be prorated.

Terms run through the following months:
Fall — September 1 to December 31
Spring — January 1 to April 30
Summer — May 1 to August 31

When you buy the UPass for the first time, the receipt from the Cash Office will need to be taken to the Information Technology Solutions Centre in TH218 to get your ID card, which is required to ride Lethbridge Transit. Once you have this ID card, you will not have to do this step again. The UPass will expire at the end of each term if payment has not been made for the new term.
