E-Tip for Nutrition Month

This year's Nutrition Month theme is "Unlock the Potential of Food." Think about it: nutritious food has the potential to fuel our bodies to do the things we like to do, to support our health and mental wellbeing, to bring people together, to discover other cultures, to support local economies, and much more. Use the resources provided by Dietitians of Canada and work with your local public health dietitians to share the potential of food with your community.

AUPE Sessional LayOff Employees
Employees who have sessional layoffs need to advise Pension & Benefits how they wish to handle their benefits during their layoff.
The employee has the option to continue all benefits. If an employee has coverage for Voluntary Life Insurances and chooses not to keep the coverage during the period of layoff, the employee will have to re-qualify upon their return.
If arrangements are not made for coverage before leave starts, all benefits will cease effective the date of layoff. Arrangements must be made for coverage and payment in advance of the layoff.  The employee's previous benefit coverage will commence (except for voluntary life plans) upon their return.
Please contact Krystal Davis or Adriana Ota to arrange your benefit coverage.
Calgary Corner
March 2019

In February, Wellness Day was held on the Calgary Campus! This was our first wellness day, where faculty and staff were able to take a moment to check-in on both their physical health, through the ‘Health Check for U’ program, and indulge in self-care with some on-campus massages, thanks to the MH Vicars School of Massage Therapy. It was also a chance to socialize with colleagues through a ‘healthy potluck’, where everyone brought in amazing food, from unique salads, to egg bakes and energy bites! The day really allowed the Calgary campus to take some time out of their day to focus on their physical and emotional health. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped to make it a great day!

Now! The Wellness committee would like to turn this to you as Calgary campus members, to find out: What would you like to see that would help you focus on your Wellness in Calgary? Are there specific events or workshops you’d participate in? Topics you’d be interested reading here in the Wellness newsletter? What would help your wellness in Calgary?
Please e-mail your input to with any ideas you have as we support your wellness as a Calgary campus employee!
