Welcome to the College of Engineering!  

We're thrilled to have you join us in Michigan Engineering.  This is such an exciting time, and we look forward to being a part of your Michigan experience. We're here to help you make the most of it!  This monthly newsletter will help you stay connected and up to date on all relevant information, programs, and resources that will support your success through your first year.  

Introducing your EAC advising team! You'll meet your academic advisor at orientation. You'll stay connected with your advisor throughout your first year, and work together until you declare your engineering major. The EAC is your home and headquarters for success at Michigan. Get to know us HERE. We're excited to meet you!
Wondering how to figure it all out on campus? Our Peer Mentoring Program is the place to start. Learn more about this high impact program HERE. You'll receive your invitation by email in June. Get a jump start on your first year and sign up then! 
1st Gen Engin is a our program for first generation undergrad engineering students. Challenge, achievement, and resiliency - you've got it all! Funding for experiential learning is available for first gen students with financial need. To learn more about First Gen Engin initiatives, contact Leonora.
Here's our first piece of course planning advice - take ALA 171. Connect with students in your residence hall and learn how to get off to a strong start at Michigan! It's just seven weeks long, and will fulfill a General Elective requirement for your engineering degree. 
Here's our next piece of course planning advice - take Engineering 110. You'll learn how engineers benefit society. You'll explore our 17 different majors, and see how each of them make an impact on our world. Hear about the broader campus experiences that can shape your future engineering career. Engr 110 will also fulfill a General Elective requirement for your engineering degree. 
Michigan Athletics - kind of a big deal. Whether you're a die-hard fan or new to the Maize and Blue, you've got to experience a game this year. If football is your thing, order your tickets  May 31-June 14! Basketball and Hockey, too! 
Get ready for the time of your life! Check the list from the EAC for your countdown to your Michigan career. Be sure to complete your Canvas assignments before orientation, including the Academic Planning and Interest Survey, and your Fall Course Planning Worksheet. This will make your first advising meeting even more helpful and effective. 
Get ready for Orientation! It's a whirlwind of activity and information. Arrive well rested, bring a water bottle, umbrella, and comfortable shoes. Prepare in advance so you'll be ready for it all. Check out these recommendations and expectations from the Office of New Student Programs. You'll be glad you did!
Your first homework assignment will arrive in July! The Common Reading Experience will be your first way to bond with your class. Tag a photo from your favorite reading spot: #UmichEnginRead. 
Did you take AP or IB exams? Be sure your results were received by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. If you did not specify UM as a recipient when you took the exams, contact College Board to have your scores sent (UM code 1839). Did you take classes at another college? Send your official transcript to the College. The sooner this credit is evaluated and added to your transcript, the better we can plan courses together at Orientation.
Your high school graduation is right around the corner. We know this is an exciting time for you! Remember to have your final transcript sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This will complete your admission to Michigan. 
Take time to explore campus and the great city of Ann Arbor - named America's #2 city to live! You'll find plenty of spots to hang out, be entertained, grab a bite any time of day and night - all with the best people-watching! Get to know our unique "A-Squared/A2/Tree Town."
Start your Michigan experience in a BIG way - at the Big House!  Join with 110,000+ loyal Maize and Blue fans as we kick off our home football season on August 31 against Middle Tennessee State. Learn "The Victors" and get ready to Go Blue!
