Voting is now open for positions on the Victorian Regional Committee.

 

The ballot closes at 5.00pm AEST on Monday 24 April 2017.  

 

There are 4 vacancies.

 

For your vote to be valid, you must vote for four (4) Fellows.

Academy of Surgical Educators (ASE) Recognition Awards

Call for Nominations

 

ASE Recognition Awards 2017 nominations  close on 28 Apr 2017.  Kindly send in your nominations for the Educator of Merit categories ‘Supervisor/ Clinical Assessor of the Year – by Region’ and ‘Professional Development Facilitator/ Instructor of the Year’. The awards will be presented at the Academy Forum in November 2017, in Sydney. For more information on the awards, please visit the ASE Recognition Awards page
 
Application for the ASE Surgical Education Research Scholarship is now open until 26 Apr 2017. This $10,000 scholarship is open to RACS Fellows, SET Trainees, SET applicants and IMGs. The purpose of this two day workshop is to provide surgeons and trainees with information and practical skill to set up private practice.

Let's Operate with Respect

 

E-learning module

As part of awareness and education to tackle discrimination, bullying and sexual harassment, all RACS Fellows are required to undertake the e-learning module “Operate with Respect”.

Currently only 48% of Victorian Fellows, Trainees and IMGs have completed the Operating with Respect e-learning module.  

This is a CPD requirement for 2017.  Completion of the module takes 45-60 minutes and can be accessed from the RACS website: www.surgeons.org/about-respect/

Foundation Skills for Surgical Educators (FSSE)

Do you supervise or teach surgical trainees?  Have you completed the Foundation Skills for Surgical Educators Course yet?  This course is designed to expand knowledge and skills in surgical teaching and education.

Completion in 2017 is mandatory.  Limited exemptions apply. Courses are scheduled around Australia.

Fellows, Trainees and IMGs have access to confidential counselling for any personal or work-related issued through Converge International. Provision of services covers New Zealand and Australia and can be in person, on the phone or via Skype. RACS will cover the costs of up to four sessions per calendar year to this arms-length service.
