Youth Programs


Baby & Me Story Hour

Wednesdays, January 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th
10:30 AM–11:30 AM
Baby & Me Story Hour focuses on developing your baby’s and toddler's pre-literacy skills. This lap-time story hour will introduce a love for books by using song, movement, rhythm and rhyme. The program will help improve motor, sensory, and social skills during play time. A hands-on craft and snack follow each program. Children ages 0-3 and caregivers welcome.


Preschool Story Hour

Mondays, January 6th, 13th & 27th
10:30 AM–11:30 AM
 
Preschool Story Hour taps into the boundless energy of three to five-year-olds to get your child involved in this interactive story time. This program will engage your children with stories, fingerplays and songs and encourage them to learn sounds, letter recognition, and new words as they grow into pre-readers. Each program is followed by a hands-on craft and snacks.


After School Program

Mondays, January 6th, 13th, 27th
4:00 PM–5:00 PM
After School Program at the Town of Ulster Public Library encourages learning through music, play, crafts and games. Each week is a different activity and snacks are provided. Ages 5 to 12 welcome. 

January 6th - Learn about fossils and make your own fossil to take home.
January 13th - Brainteasers!
January 20th - Library closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day
January 27th - Chinese New Year activity and craft


Special Story Hour

Saturday, January 11th
11:00 AM–12:00 PM

Listen to stories that take place in Asia, learn some interesting facts, sing songs, play musical instruments, make a craft and have a snack.


Read to Zoey

Monday, January 27th
4:00 PM–5:00 PM (by appointment only)
Zoey, our friend and certified therapy dog, visits and offers young readers a chance to increase their confidence in reading by spending time in a relaxing, stress-free environment. Registration required. Call to schedule a 15-minute session with Zoey.

Free Ukulele Program

Town of Ulster Public Library hosts a free intergenerational ukulele program for ages 10 and up. This is a group that shares learning with each other. We usually do some folk music, popular music and anything else anyone might want to play. Remember beginners are welcome and encouraged! Friends of the Library Book Club

Support the Library When You Shop Field-Goods

You can support library programming when you shop at Field-Goods!

Field Goods is a year-round local produce delivery service; customers receive 5 to 8 different fruit and vegetables (depending on bag size), plus optional add-ons. Bags cost $16 to $32 per week, and can be put on hold at any time. It’s flexible!

Field Goods purchases everything directly from over 80 small farms in the region. All of the produce is non-GMO, and most is organically grown.
