Building Organizational Resiliency

The National Victim Assistance Academy is offering training for organizations that help clients face difficult issues such as child abuse, human trafficking, and interpersonal violence.. To support and maintain healthy perspectives among staff and volunteers, your organization must create an environment that encourages resiliency. This training will cover the core elements of resiliency, present an organizational resiliency model, and examine how to help build resiliency within your organization. The training will take place over the course of 3 weeks and includes two webinars, each about 75 minutes. If you are interested in attending, please complete the application.

LANEE AND EMMA

Hoping to see Emma open up to other children in the mentoring program, Emma encouraged her to try new things. By the end of the year, Lanee was inviting other kids whose mentors hadn’t shown up or who didn’t have a mentor to join her and Emma in games and activities. “She’s very welcoming and inclusive and just really nice to the kids,” Emma tells me. “Even if they don’t play well or aren’t very nice, she’s nice to them.”

IMP DATA COLLECTION

Fall 2017, the IMP is launching a four question pre/post survey for all programs to administer with their mentees. This recommended instrument from the National Mentoring Resource Center for measuring key youth outcomes will provide us with a common set of measures from all IMP programs across the state. This data is a key step in telling the impact story of mentoring as a collective movement in Iowa. Look for further information in your inbox during the week of July 3rd or contact Mary at 515-725-3187 or mary.sheka@iowaeda.com for more information.
