Communities & Technical Experts: Two Worlds of Forest Carbon Projects

Carbon forestry projects usually involve two worlds: A technical world of computer screens, calculations, reports and audits and another based in the reality of forest work in rural communities. In the context of increasingly bigger projects looking to cut costs, how can we ensure that the connection between these two worlds is not lost? Read Geoff Well's full blog post here.

Plan Vivo Buffer Account

Plan Vivo has achieved an important milestone by formalising its pooled non-permanence risk buffer account on Markit. The buffer account covers projects certified under the Standard for any unexpected losses, in line with best practice from other major carbon standards. The balance stands at 234,428 ex-ante reserve credits, and 55,259 ex-post reserve credits currently.

New Fee Structure

Please note that the Plan Vivo Foundation has revised its fee structure for the certification process and continued oversight of projects. Pipeline projects that are in the late stages of PDD review or validation, won't be affected by revised charges for document review in the pipeline stages. Find a full list of our fees here.

20 Years of Plan Vivo
The Plan Vivo Standard is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2017. Since its inception as a pilot project in Chiapas, the Plan Vivo system has grown steadily and today works with over 45 projects in 30 countries. To celebrate this special anniversary, we are planning to hold a stakeholder meeting in the coming months. Please check the website for further details in due course.
