As the summer of 2020, a summer like no other, wears on, we continue to navigate our isolation through Zoom and phone calls. This home-time affords us an opportunity to reflect on recent events in our country and world and gain a deeper understanding of the environment of racism in which we live - its origins and manifestations. We are also learning the devastating and disproportionate effects of COVID-19 on people of color. The Mission Committee supports organizations that help to mitigate these disparities. We encourage you to participate in the opportunities listed below, to learn more and support those who have been effected.

Take a moment to see how the congregation has been addressing the topic of racism by viewing "Break Us, O Lord: A Service of Repentance" and a list of racial justice resources recommended by the Racial Justice working group. Additionally, please sign up to participate in a congregation wide guided book review of The Color of Compromise: The Truth About the American Church's Complicity in Racism, through your Community Group, Emmaus Community, or a Sunday morning (beginning July 26) or Wednesday evening (beginning July 29) group, on Zoom. Please register here for the Sunday and Wednesday groups.

“He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth; he saves them from the clutches of the powerful. So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.” Job 5:15-16 (NIV)

We invite you to journey with us in sharing the heart of Jesus with those most at risk. For further questions about the Mission's Committee, please contact: Pastor Tom Elson or Beth Thomsen
Mission Partners and Congregants on the Front Lines

We would like to thank many of our mission partners and congregants for sharing these amazing videos of their work on the front lines, caring for the most vulnerable, during the Covid-19 "shelter in place". A special thank you to Jeremy Kaetzel for the video editing!
