Summertime in Henley on Thames Including a one hour Thames Cruise
Sunday 11th August 2019
£39.50 per person
Henley on Thames is one of the most beautiful towns in England, recently voted by The Times as one of the best places to live in the English countryside and a regular winner of RHS Britain in Bloom medals.
Henley’s riverside location, surrounded by a Chiltern landscape of wooded hills and green fields, lends itself to relaxation, long lunches and quirky shopping. There’s a pub where Charles I drank, a Chantry house, a butcher that smokes his own meat and independent shops offering a personal touch.
Famous for the World’s greatest rowing regatta, the main street has many Georgian frontages covering older buildings and among the 300 buildings within the town designated "of special architectural or historical interest" are St Mary’s Church, the Town Hall, Market Place and the 18th Century stone bridge.
The paved market place offers a number of cafes, locally run tea shops, plenty of well known restaurants and wonderful pubs, some of whom brew their own ale.
We have hired a private cruise boat with a recorded commentary for a one hour cruise along the Thames. Afterwards there will be plenty of time to enjoy lunch, browse the independent and quirky shops or visit the River and Rowing Museum, acknowledged by The Times as one of the best 50 museums in the World! In the summer the bandstand in Mill Meadows often has a band playing and deckchairs can be hired from the nearby tourist information centre.
