We want to hear what you think about CLS in Dorset
At our recent Awayday in the beautiful Kingcombe Centre, we felt that between us we have achieved a fair amount so far. CLS only has a year to go, and we are keen to leave a legacy. We may be able to extend aspects of the programme, or things emerging from it, if we can raise some funds. So we want to hear what you think:
1.    What do you value about CLS (if anything!)
2.    What would you most like to see continue or develop beyond 2015?
3.    Would you want to be involved if we can raise further funds? If so, how/ in what way?

Please send us your feedback to by 31st May.
We will be sharing our Year Two Review on our website shortly.

'Grow Your Own' giveaway attracted
green fingers in Bridport
The fifth annual “Grow Your Own” give-away in Bucky Doo last weekend attracted many Bridport green fingers. A steady stream took away advice, vegetables, flowers and even trees and 48 children sowed seeds to take home. The Water Survival Box took donations for families in need.
Community Farm proves a hit with school children
Over 90 school children visited the Trainsition Town Dorchester’s (TTD) community farm to learn farm skills, including planting seeds, watering and digging, collecting eggs, pond dipping and making bug hotels.  Everyone had a great time!
TTD has a box at Little Waitrose in Poundbury in May, so please put your green tokens into the Community Woodland box!
If you would like to join TTD, contact Kate at
Are you cool, chic and green?
If so we want to hear from you!  We've been thinking about what this means. Second hand or upcycled? Cotton or bamboo? Sustainable or organic? Canvas or leather?
Do you want to help us answer these questions?
Fed up with buying plastic?
Elephant Box is a brand new, stainless steel lunch box. A revolutionary real alternative to plastic containers.
Local Bridport entrepreneurs, Joy and Liz, have come up with a novel way to package food that's healthy, versatile, fully recyclable but could last forever! Find out more about Elephant Box and help get this amazing idea off the ground.
Update from Beaminster Woods
The winter’s clearing work is completed in Beaminster School Wood, much used by residents and their dogs.   Bluebells increase, after seeding from other woods. Thirteen native trees – ash, birch, holly, ilex, field maple, willow, yew – from our tree nursery were planted in the adjoining playing fields.

Vital Connections: Science, Society and Sustaining Health
This report concludes the Sustaining Health dialogue commissioned of Meteos by the Wellcome Trust and explores how a growing human population is placing severe pressure on food, water, climate and biodiversity systems.
The Bumblebee Conservation Trust invites us all to Bee Kind – as bumblebees rely on particular flowers and plants for food, we are encouraged to plant our gardens with this in mind, and the Trust has produced the Bee Kind tool to help us.

The CLS Eco-Schools network had their summer get-together in April. Once again we were wowed by the teachers' dedication. We exchanged ideas and explored how they can widen support for Eco-Schools work among the school community.  'Don't be afraid to ask for help' was the resounding piece of advice!  Read more
