What Is This?

Dear New Readers,
Welcome to 'Reading for Pleasure,' the e-newsletter I send out every week to Berlin-based lit lovers. As a newcomer to the city, I found immediate pleasure in Berlin’s literary offerings, and I wanted to expand this positive experience to include more people.

If you like what you see, please help me
spread the word! Send your friends the subscription link or mention @berlinreads on Twitter. The more the merrier.
Cheers & Prost,

Best Place to Ponder 'Books as Art'
B/B Multiples

Brunnenstraße 162, Mitte

After a Lebanese artist was denied her visa to the UK, she created a political collage inside her passport and sent a not-so-subtle message to the responsible party. B/B Multiples, a bookshop/gallery hybrid in Berlin and Beirut, publishes exactly this type of project. Visit the store to browse through pocket-sized, accordion-style books filled with poems and urban landscapes.

Kreuzberg's Whimsical Writing Nook

Klötze und Schinken

Bürknerstraße 12, Kreuzberg

Klötze und Schinken is the indoor version of a whimsical garden: perfect for writing stories with pastel-themed adjectives and happy endings. Beyond serving coffee and pastries, the café holds a loft, the contents of which are waiting on the other side of an enticing white ladder.

Art Parasites Seeks Freelancers

Art Parasites is an online art magazine that lets you "stalk art." Better yet, its staff wants to pay freelancers. On Craigslist, the team beckons, "Go above and beyond into the realms art is scared to go and maybe has never been!" More info here.
