Welcome to our July Update!

express News in Brief

Thank you to everyone who came along to our express day at The Rose for the Let me In Festival. A fantastic day if exhausting! We had a very informative talk from Eleanor Wright at SOS!SEN followed by a workshop from The Curly Hair Project and finally our Comedy Gala.

The office has been a great step forward and we are having increasing visitors and meetings so it's a necessity whilst we prepare our final business plan for submission by the end of July. We are exploring lots of options for our hub site and we will of course keep you updated as always. Fundraising is even more crucial now to cover the office running costs.

Sadly we did not get through to the finals of the AVIVA Community Fund - we were just a few votes short. Thank you to everyone who voted. Please keep an eye out and let us know about any similar opportunities as this is a great way to raise vital funds.

Your comments are always welcome - please click here to contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Please continue to support us it really does make a difference. You can do your bit by spreading the word, attending events, offering your expertise, and fundraising. Please do get involved.

A Message from the M&S Express Team: Cheryl, Jakki, Shannon, Gary & Joe

'We are taking part in the Thames path challenge for Express CIC. The Thames path challenge is a 100Km endurance walk across the weekend of 12/13th September 2015, starting in Putney and ending in Henley. We are looking to complete it in under 24 hours (we hope!).

Express is a 'not for profit' community organisation supporting young people with autism and their families in Kingston-upon-Thames. All your donations are going to a great cause and are all very much appreciated by all of us! Thank you!'

We are very very grateful to Joe Hewlett who has again agreed to do this mammoth challenge and not only that but persuaded others to join him!

The Magic of Louis Morel
'The film is a brief summary of some of the extreme and trippy sensory stuff I have to deal with. Asperger Syndrome is a very varied condition and I think what I have is rare among that, so bear in mind not everyone with Asperger Syndrome will necessarily suffer from things like this. The inspiration for this film was a video I made a long time ago where I tried to explain my condition to other people. Through an absurdly tangential sequence of events Philip Davies (Battlecat) saw my film and this is how ‘The Magic of Louis Morel’ film happened.' Watch here:

We are making wonderful progress - but we need your help!

Support our events

The regular coffee mornings, talks and awareness days are still a top priority as these events are a lifeline for many parents and carers.

“Listening to Dean Beadle, who has Asperger's Syndrome, talk about his struggles at school,  opened my eyes to the anxiety my daughter was going through. It gave me some strategies for helping her cope with stress,' says Helen who attended World Autism Awareness Day in April.

A regular income will support express events like these and help us continue our work towards creating a community hub.

You can set up a regular small donation from as little as £2/month – or a one-off donation.

You can donate online at: www.localgiving.com/expresscic

Thank you for your support!
