St. Margaret Mary School
School Newsletter

August 23, 2019
News from Mrs. Sims
Just in case you missed last night’s PTO Open House meeting, I want to highlight some of the
great happenings for the 2019-20 school year. St. Margaret Mary School continues to work
hard to nurture the unique gifts and talents of our students by offering innovative programs
and high-quality instruction. Our teachers are working together in Professional Learning
Communities to make curricular decisions and evaluate student progress. The whole school is
focusing on improving students’ skills in English and Writing. We are using flexible seating,
technology, and hands-on learning to increase student engagement.
You will see a change in the assessment model as MAPS testing replaces the Terra Nova in the
Archdiocese. Coming soon is a new and fun program in the library called Biblionasium that
replaces the old Accelerated Reader program. Students will begin using our new Library Maker
Space as we continue STREAM learning. It will be a year of creativity, learning, and growth for
SMM. How exciting is that?

May God Bless You and Your Family,

Wendy Sims, Principal

Alert: Slight Schedule Change to Dismissal Time

Instruction will begin at 8:05 AM each morning right after prayers.

Dismissal will begin at 2:45 PM each day instead of 2:40.

These small changes will allow for more instructional minutes in the day.  This change was approved by last year's SAC.
