March 13, 2014  Middle East Studies Lecture Series. Fred Donner, Professor of Near Eastern History, University of Chicago. “An Enigmatic Arabic Papyrus from Early Islam.” Watson Institute, Joukowsky Forum.  5:00-6:30 p.m. A discussion of some of the problems scholars face in studying the origins of the Islamic period, and the importance of documentary evidence for understanding early Islamic history. Co-sponsored by the Humanities Teaching and Research Fund.
