Dear Advisory Board,
I hope this finds you all healthy and safe. I am happy to officially announce and welcome Ninth Wave Studio's two new Advisory Board members, Beth McCann and Tanya Bakija. I'm thrilled they are on board!
Turning to a more sober note - we are in uncertain times currently in Michigan, in our country and around the globe. As I watch the amount of Michigan's Covid-19 cases and deaths increase each day, while following Governor Whitmer's press releases it is apparent that the Cornavirus situation we are in will have an impact on our 2020 planned agenda for Ninth Wave Studio. Honestly, it is too early to know how much the situation will influence what we have planned - we just have to wait and see how things play out. Below is an outline and my thoughts:
First off - our planned April Advisory Board Meeting will be postponed until further notice.
I've been in contact with Doet Boersma, our 2020 Artist in Residence. Doet is scheduled to arrive in mid May for a month's long residency. We just don't know what the near future holds regarding our state and city's closures and restrictions. Until I hear otherwise we will be planning for her arrival and residency.
A June 5th Art Hop is scheduled for Ninth Wave Studio to showcase Boersma's artwork. We will follow the lead of the Art Council of Greater Kalamazoo regarding this.
We have our first Artist Salon session scheduled for June 9th. Again, until I hear otherwise we will be planning for the Salon to take place. Bobbie Luce will be the presenter and it will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Ninth Wave Studio has a group going to Ireland this summer. Leaving July 28th for 14 days. The Irish are saying that they have reached their Apex of cases and deaths and expect the their tourist season to be up and running for them by summer. On this side of the pond, I am in close contact with our travel agent, Gena Gilligan - we are watching the airline's projections - currently they are only projecting changes on flights through the month of May. I'll keep on top of that.
