Your Help with December Financial Status Reports and Invoices
The University has financial reports and invoices due to our sponsors in December. We have a shorter working month to complete this, as we need to submit them to Shared Services by Friday, December 20, 2015.
Sponsored Programs always appreciates your diligence on these Financial Status Reports, and we ask for your continued responsiveness to our emails and questions this week so we can address issues appropriately.

eRPM Updates Support New Business Processes
The eResearch Proposal Management system (eRPM) will be updated on Monday, December 21, 2015 with changes to better support our work in research administration.
Space for U-M Investigators
In response to a request from the Research Administration Schools Committee (RASC), project teams will now have an option to indicate that adequate space is committed. The eRPM Space for U-M Investigators page will be redesigned to allow for one of three options:
- No individual space required
- Adequate Space Committed, No Additional Space Identified
- Requested Room/Building
View the helpful What’s New page with additional information, step-by-step procedure, and video demonstration. Thank you ITS and RASC!
Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) Form updated
- For easier data entry, the questions on the Material Details and Transfer Activity pages have been reformatted from Yes/No to Checkboxes.
Honest Broker Office is now UMMS Data Office

NIH Updates
NIH Grants Policy Statement Available
National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced the publication of the revised NIH Grants Policy Statement (NIHGPS). You can view a summary of significant changes.
There is one significant change: with the exception of K awards or other grant programs that require a specific effort level, or where terms and conditions prohibit such reductions, NIH will not require prior approval for the reduction in effort for Senior/Key personnel. Active awards must have a measurable level of effort.

NSF Updates
Reminders and Recent Updates
New for on or after January 25, 2016:
NSF Transition to Research.gov
Post Award Change Process
NSF continues to transition post-award functions (called Notifications and Requests) on an ongoing basis from Fastlane to Research.gov. View a table listing of Notifications and Requests that have moved.
With this transition, NSF has reemphasized that Notifications and Requests is a function of a sponsored research office (such as ORSP). Therefore, as designed, the Research.gov system does not allow princicipal investigators (PIs) to initiate Notifications and Requests in Research.gov (as was allowed in FastLane)unless they are given Sponsored Research Office (SRO) privileges. ORSP is looking into these changes and will provide process details as we learn more.
The easiest way to process any post-award change at U-M is by using our helpful Post Award Change Request (PACR) Form, and your ORSP Project Representative (PR) will help you.
Keep apprised of this and other NSF issues on our Sponsor-Specific Resource pages.
